Question about 1986 Renault Sport
Engine runs fine until I operate the indicators, wipers or electric windows. The enine cuts out straight away. There is a werring sound under the dashboard behind the fusebox for a minute or two after. Then I can start up again.
Sounds like you have an electrical short. The whiring sound is probably the fan for the heater / air conditioner. An electrical short in the steering wheel switch cluuster can be difficult to locate and it can have funny affects like you describe because it can put power onto other circuits (e.g. cause the lights to flash or the fan to spin).
If you are going to do the job yourself take things to pieces carefully and make a note so you know how to re-assemble them later. It may be worth buying a workshop manual if you can get one.
