Might invest in a repair manual also. This could save you many headaches once you start

G'Day, and greetings from Canada via the old home country GB!

I reckon when you get the new one, you will see how itr fits. Looking at the pictures, it looks like they have short screws on them, so on the inside of that triangular fillet, you are going to see screw covers or a removable panel.

You can get just the glass for $20 AUS, but getting the new one in without breaking is difficult.

open the bonnet disconnect battery terminals.
then raise vehicle on hoist or car stands.
then disconnect the wiring that's connected to the starter motor.
once everything is disconnected remove the 2 bolts that secure the starter motor to vehicle.
when fitting new one just follow these steps in reverse..

Where are the bolts to remove a starter 1990 oldsmobile regency 98?

There are only 2 bolts. They go straight up through the starter motor housing into the engine block. You may have some plastic covers that go around the starter and flywheel area that will need to be removed to get to them.

Holden rodeo v6 1998 3.2L 4wd

the click is the solenoid hitting the bendix, try geting someone to turn the key,and as they do,tap the starter with a hammer, or heavy wrench, if it starts, then its the solenoid, and it can be stripped and replaced, if it doesnt start, then its the bendix, and you will need to replace the starter, ....which you can do yourself, .....takes about an hour or so
