38,000 miles change oil evey 3,000. Just lost the A/C belt 30 minutes out side of Las Vegas. Tentioner pulley workered loose and ate it (2nd time). At 35,000 I had the 30,000 mile maintenance performed.

automatic trans, 2 electric fans, (1 for when A/C comes on) This last time when I heard the boiling I started the motor with the A/C and both fan came on. I'll have to pay attention for future events.

I'll check the radiator cap shortly.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Check your radiator cap for damage or wear that this age. One BIG THING, the raditor fan. Depending upon engine and spec's it might be electic, hyrdaulic or mechanical drive. IS it working? Do you have an undamaged shroud? On the times is does not over heat. A/C on or off. If on and not mechanical fan the fan MUST be on either drive. If mechanical, is the clutch good? When is over heats or is getting hot, does the fan work. These are the easy and cheap things to check first.

My 1994 Subaru Legacy Touring (Turbo) Wagon is not shifting properly when taking off. It does not shift until 3500 rpm at 20 mph. The initial shift should be around 2000 rpm. All other gears seem...

Hi,
The 1st>>2nd shift on the Subaru 4EAT automatic transmission can be more abrupt, but 3500 is too high.
Is there any delay when shifting from Park to Drive?
Does the Power light flash on startup? If it does, you can pull the codes by following these instructions.

This trans has 'bands' that can be adjusted. I'm not 100% sure they affect the 1st>2nd gear shift, but maybe they need adjusted.

Take a look @ ultimatesubaru.org/forum and http://bbs.legacycentral.org. 2 sites dedicated to Subarus.

Good luck,

Changing radiator on automatic subaru legacy twin turbo, cause it has a oil feed how to refill when ive put new radiator on

Hi:
The two lines that you are wondering about are oil cooler lines for your transmission. One is a pressure line from the transmission, the other is the return. Usually only a small amount of transmission fluid is lost during a radiator change, but all you need to do is to check for leaks on the line connections, and if they are good, then check your transmission fluid level after you are finished and top off if needed.
