Question about 2000 Mitsubishi Galant
If you don't have the code, you probably will have to pay a dealer to get it for you. My dealer said it was on the back of the radio and he had to remove it to find it. I have no idea if this is true.
As to the other problem of entering the code 3 times, and it now showing "off" instead. Simply put your ignition in the accessory position for approximately one hour. "Code" will magically reappear.
This applies to the 2000 Gallant. My code is 7357 if you wish to try it.

If disconnecting the battery doesn't reset the lock on the radio, you must leave the car running for 1 hour before it will reset. As told via the dealership. If you need the codes you can get them from any dealership, however some will charge you for them.

You must disconnect the battery again and also the factory alarm must not be in Valet Mode. Stereo will ask for codes afterwards.

Your code is in the owner's manual. If you do not have the owner's manual anymore you can locate your code for free on the mitsubishi website. As far as the radio reading "ofF" this simply means that the code was entered incorrectly 3 times. You can reset this back to "codE" again by disconnecting the battery, or by turning the key to "accessory" powering on the radio to read "ofF" and leaving it sit for approx. 60 minutes, afterwards the word "codE" will be displayed again. At this point you want to enter in your cars specific code, again, found in the owners manual or on the mitsubishi website (you will need vin, radio serial #( https://www.mitsubishicars.com/owners/support/radio-code)

After putting in the code do u have to hit any other buttons i put my code in now it says off. What do i do? And in order to get your code the dealership has to remove your radio whitch u pay labor on and they have to call in the serial # to mits. Thats what your paying for. It cost me $56 the one time i had them do it then they had my code on file for next time i needed it which was free.
