I have replaced several sets they are under intake. most of the time they come right out. if you have some mechanical knowledge it is an easy job. pull off intake and you are right there go ahead and replace both while there

Knock sensor

The knock sensor on many cars is fitted to the engine block. It is often about the width of a ping pong ball and may have two wires leading from it. They are generally easy to replace, depending on access. It should be something you can do yourself.

How do you replace a Nissan 350Z knock sensor?

Hello
The knock sensors (one for each cylinder head on the V6) are located on the inside of the cylinder heads, in order to replace them the upper intake manifold must be removed. It is always recommended on this engine family that not only replace the 2 knock sensors but that you also replace the short sub wiring harness to the knock sensors from the main engine harness as it is many times the a common cause of the knock sensor code(s) in the 1st place.

Service soon light stays on.. had it checked at auto zone and came up with po327 knock sensor condition. Is this gona be an expensive car repair?

no, 30 minutes labor--you can do it yourself. part is $30. You have 2 of them. 327 is for bank 1, which is the back bank by the firewall. see picture below (the picture is bank 2, but location is same on other side).

To replace the knock sensor:
  • Disconnect the knock sensor wiring connector.
  • Then, unscrew the sensor.
  • Remove the knock sensor.
  • Reverse the procedures to install the part.

A defective knock sensor may cause engine detonation or reduced spark advance and fuel economy. When a knock sensor is removed and replaced, the sensor must be tightened to its specified torque. If the knock sensor is installed tighter than it should be, it may become too sensitive and provide an excessively high voltage signal, resulting in more spark ****** than required. When the knock sensor is installed looser than it should be, the knock sensor signal will be lower than normal, resulting in engine detonation.

How to replace the knock sensor on a 2004 cheverolet 2500 6.0 liter engine

    Hello Friend:

Your Anti-Knock Sensor is Located With Hood Raised Facing the Engine Compartment,Its on the LEFT SIDE Right Under your Exhaust Manifold Towards the Back.

On the Engine Block ,You'll see Your Anti-Knock Sensor Wires running to it.

Its a Little hard to Get to but Not so hard that you can't do it Yourself.

Disconnect the Wire Connector, And Take a Good Look at the Wires,Since it Runs so Close to your Exhaust you could have Also some Faulty Wiring going to the Sensor.

Just Un Screw the Anti-Knock Senser and Replace New.

This will get your Anti-Knock Sensor Replaced With A New One Like i Said Look very Good at the Wiring Going to the Sensor.

Thanks for using FIXYA Please let me know how i've helped you by Voting and If you Would write a Small Testamony.

    Find part location

There are two knock sensors on your vehicle. Both are located under the intake manifold. I would replace both if going to do the work yourself. There is also a wiring harness kit for the sensors you should replace. It is a difficult job.

Need to remove the upper and lower air intake manifold.  There are two knock sensors for the front and rear pistons banks.  If you plan to do this yourself it is about 1 to 2 hours.  While you are at it, there is a short coolant bypass hose sitting in the same spot, replace it.  Another problem with the knock sensor is the wire harness used to connect the two knock sensors into one connection sometimes wears out and contacts the metal on the engine causing false signals to the ECM, so replace this cable also.
Just did this last summer on my 99 ES300.  Pretty easy.

Check engine light tells me knock sensor or circut ecu

On a 6 cylinder, the knock sensor is located under the intake manifold, on the inside edge of the cylinder block. You must remove the entire intake manifold assembly to access the knock sensor. If you are replacing it, it would be very advisable to replace the sensor AND the extension wire from it to the main harness. I have observed that the wire extensions become brittle over time, and they fail with regularity.

My 2002 Dodge intrepid has it engine light on

The MAP sensor and Knock Sensor are both very easily replaced. A better scanner will tell you which sensor is going bad on your transmission. An Autozone code reader will not tell you which sensor on the trans. is acting up. Most sensors on your trans. are very easity replaced as well. They just screw in and plug it. It's worth paying to get a "real" scan done. The trans. sensors are inexpensive and you can replace any other your listed sensors yourself.
