He is correct there is a power steering line that runs inside the frame on the driver's side behind the bumper. I know because mine broke in the same place. If you want to put the line back the same way it was you will have to pull the bumper off. I haven't figured out the reasoning for gm running the line in the frame unless it's supposed to be a cheap attempt at a cooler since it coils around in there a couple times and then comes back out. I am going to try just cutting off the pieces that go into the frame and splicing the other piece together

There are no lines inside the frame , you may have a leaking line but not inside the frame, it may look like its inside but not, clean the area good and then watch for a leak as someone turns the steering wheel, at the gear box you will see two lines a preasure and return line, the preasure goes from gearbox to pump and the return goes from gear to pump also, some trucks may have a cooler, if this is the case the only diffrence is the return will go from gearbox to cooler to pump, this is all the lines none are in the frame, good luck.

Power steering hose diagram

power steering hoses run from pump to the steering box, (high pressure) and from the steering box to pump (low side).. is a closed connection. pump to box, then from box back to pump. High pressure should have pressed on fittings, while low side may have normal water hose clamps or replaceable hose without pressed on fittings.

I have a 98 Ford Expedition EB 4X4 i need to upgrade my front suspension, I cant figure out how do you replace the pittmen arm. It is blocked by the frame cross member & cant get a puller on it to...

You will have to pull the steering gear box that the pitman arm is attached to completely off to change it. Sorry for the bad news. The bolts go through the drivers side of the frame. You will have to take the power steering lines and upper steering shaft off as well. Be sure to try and lock the steering wheel in such a way that it does not turn on you. If it does, you could break the clock spring for the air bag in the steering wheel and set the air bag light on. After you get the gear box out it is smooth sailing! Don't forget to fill the power steering fluid when you are done before you start the truck or you could burn up the power steering pump.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

The power steering gear broke off of the frame in my 1989 gmc suburban 5.7L, 350 v8. How can This be repaired? cant drive truck, turning left just causes the steering gear to bend in engine compartment and...

You'll have to weld a piece of flat iron with mounting holes pre-drilled, on to the frame, or if the frame where it broke isn't too bad, maybe just pound it flat, and weld the cracks and grind them . Then be sure to put some large washers on it, and lock washers. Somebody must have had that off at one time, and didn't tighten the bolts enough.

How is gas leaking from frame of 89 toyota pick up

The gas lines run through the frame for protection. Leak could be above frame and dripping down line, into frame. Or leak could be from rub through where frame touches line.
Or could be from vent of overflow line.

  4. Have helper turn steering wheel to
  5. RIGHT or LEFT All the way till it stops and hold it there

99 GMC Sierra Fluid Leak Immediately after Getting Oil Change

as an owner of three gmc sierras, i can attest that the brake lines that run along the frame rail under the master cylinder inherently rust away and break. I wouldnt neccesarily think it was tampered with. but do check the condition of all of the lines including the fuel lines for excessive rust.
