it should be the 4l60e , i believe the c-series were the heavy duty models with the larger rear axle and the 4l80e tranny. but to be certain , it's stamped on the passenger side i believe , towards the front (on the bell-housing or right behind on the gear box but definately on the pass. side. note: you may have to remove the heat shield in order to see it . it's that little cover ( held by 2 small 10mm bolts ) that reflect the heat from the catylitic convertor but its simple...

SOURCE: no spark on 1987 chevy cavalier

Crank position sensor would be my guess.
Its located the center, rear engine area, mounted in the block below the ignition coil pack and DIS module. My guess is that's your culprit.

You need to replace the blower resistor assy. it is located down by the blower motor on the passenger side near the passengers feet. it will be held in by 3 screws. you should also check the connector for the wiring that goes to it as they have a tendency of melting. The wiring harness is available at the dealer. Purchase the resistor at the dealer and they can print off a picture of its location and or verbaly explain where it is. good luck

4x4 v8 1998 dodge truck won't start

well if ur not getting spark and u changed all of the ignition components lets think about the computer in order for the ignition to work you have crankshaft position sensor that fires the fuel injectors and the spark change that and if still nothing then change the camshaft postion sensor that sensor tells the computer that the 1 piston has came all the way up and it tells the crankshaft sensor to do its thing

1998 chevy k 2500 cranks but wont start ,

See if you're missing fuel or spark.
Does the fuel pump buzz for about 2 seconds when the key is first turned to ON? Do you have about 60psi of fuel pressure? Are your fuses good?
Then you can probe injector wires and have the ignition module tested at an Auto Zone.

Pull a coil wire, do you get spark? Do you have power to the coil? Again, test the ignition module.

I was having a problem with the engine cutting out, so I changed the spark plugs and filled the tank with good gas and fuel injector cleaner, and now it is missing worse than before. What is the problem?

it could be anything but i would say you should check the ignition coils first. you can do this by testing the resistance in the coil packs. make sure the engine is off and the key is not in the ignition. if you set your voltmeter to ohms take the 2 ignition wires off of one coil pack. touch your voltmeter lead wires to the 2 posts on the ignition coil. it should read 4000-8000 ohms if you have a bad coil it will usually be close to 0 ohms. do this test for all coil packs. each coil pack ignites 2 cylinders so if you have a v6 you will need to test 3 packs and 4 packs on a v8

Access to odd numbered spark plugs on North-Star V8

To gain access you have to remove the ignition coil pack. There are only 4 10mm bolts holding it on. Also remove the cross over to have more room.

Fuel supply problem in 1998 Landrover Discovery. 3.9 V8

not likely a fuel issue,
try running it in the dark of night , no lighting and look for sparks ,
have the ignition coil tested , be sure it has good ground.
pull each plug and watch the spark ,does it maintain the blue long arc.
tune a am/fm radio to the sparks ignition sound an listen to it
a portable walkman can lead you to the faulty spark,
or just have them monitor the spark at the shop.
