Hi, I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee laredo, it has done 166100klms and last week it decided that it no longer wants to change gears at a normal range of revs. I have taken it to a mechanic who said it was the auto transmission, so sent me to a transmission place that said its the electics... could you please give me some indication of whats happening..?

you might want to check you cam shaft sensor amd also there is a different sensor under the distutor i had to replace both of these on my 95 jeep grand cherokee laredo

call jeep and give them last 9 digits of your vin and ask for three things -Differential Type,Gear ratio, and Track lock- They will give you 1) Dana 35 or 44 2) Gear Ratio 3.31 or 3.73 3) Track Lock - yes/no
its most likely the transmission i have a 96 jeep grand cherokee laredo 12 yrs old ..it went about 3 months ago.i would take off at normall speed and it would rev. to about 3,000 RPMS and then the gear would catch ,and give u wiplash.lol but then it got worse. it would be fine taking off then while i was driving ,,i would be going any speed but wen i got up to speed it would start reving high [the gear was sliping] and i had to get it rebult it was like $3'000 grand plus
