I had a similar problem. Eventually, I discovered that only the valet key would set the alarm off (The XG300 came with both a driver's key and a valet key. The valet key cannot open the trunk) Perhaps this could help prevent you from setting your alarm off in the future.

I have a 2007 toyota corolla S, recently purchased a new battery for car but the car alarm goes off as soon as i open the door and then after a few mins of the car door being closed it turns alarm off

-Do you have the remote control to disable...? If not then
disconnect its fuse so you'll never heard it again unless you still need the alarm. If so then look for a remote.

Good luck

I open it and the alarm start going off for the first time. Now the car will not start

Did you open the door with the key? or the remote? If it was the remote then lock and unlock the door with the key and then it should start working. I noticed that some cars that get locked from inside then opened with remote does that,.

If the alarm keeps going off constantly and the remote has no influence on the alarm its most likely a connection problem. A hyundai dealer might be able to fix it but since you can start the car something you might be able to try is....
Check and make sure the remote battery is in the right way. Make sure all of the doors are closed, the trunk is closed, open the hood, connect the battery, close the hood all the way and try to lock and unlock the doors. Hope this works but if not, sorry it didn't work.

Remote switch to open fuel door Hyundai XG300L (2001)

Might be both. Often the problem is in the control switch itself. You can check this by removing the door panel to access the electrical wiring to the switch, then jumper the two wires of the control switch to see if the fuel door solenoid operates and the door opens - if it does, the switch is the problem. If it doesn't, Go to and register (vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to technical information (manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc) about your vehicle. Hope this helps.
