Question about 1999 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

'99 expedition xlt a/c

The vents in the back would blow cold air, but the front panel would produce hot air when a/c is on. Dealership said to replace compressor, which I had my mechanic completed. Still have same problem. What can I do?

I have a 97 Expedition Eddie Bauer with the same problem. Cold in back, but hot air in front. Compressor makes no sense or none would be cold. Must be something else.

I have a 2001 expedition and the front vents blow hot air with ac on.back vents blow cold so i know its charged and compressor works.what can it be?

Check the blend doors found deep in the air duct underneath the dashboard. There may be loose linkages or the motor may not be working.

My Air Condition is only blowing hot air in the front, but cold in the rear. Could anyone give me a start in correcting this problem? Thanks

possible blend door actuator faulty, or a faulty blend door. This door switches from hot to cold vents. On expeditions equipped with rear AC front and rear AC have seperate actuators. Hopefully this helps!!

Cold air blowing out of vents when the heat is on but the rear heat works fine 99 ford expedition

Could be the diverter valve. It's the one located near the firewall in the engine bay. the valve is in-line on one of the two coolant hoses that run through the firewall. Have a helper rotate the temperature knob back and forth, with the ignition turned on, and you watch to see if the valve is being adjusted. I'm guessing it isn't. Best of luck!

No back heat in Expedition, Blows cold air but front works fine

Shelly,

Buy used parts at car-part.com. Look on page with * to find the cheapest part. Coud be your temp blend door (#2) may not be moving back and forth. Or, you are not getting hot water to the rear heater core.

You may have to crawl under the truck and feel the heater hoses to see if they are hot. You will find a group of 4 lines, 2 for heater and 2 for a/c. If hot, you know hot water is getting back to the heater core. If not, there may be a hot water vave that's not working. Not sure if EXP. has a water valve for rear.

Let us know what you you find. Good luck.

your controls have problems. the heat is there it is just not getting out because your control lines are not setting the vent controls into the proper positions. i had a chev van that lost some of the foam in side there and it blocked the whole front off. i had to rip it all apart to get at it

A/c problem

You either have a bad control, or motor running the air direction door in the front HVAC unit, or a door that is stuck.

The front and rear units are totally separate.

The door directs where the air, cold or hot, should come out, whether it is panel vents, floor, defrost, or any combination of those.

This door and motor are located inside the heater box which usually requires a lot of the vehicle dash assembly to be taken apart to get to these parts.
