Purchase a reasonably priced manual from your parts retailer it will make your life a lot easier with maintenance and small repairs of your car and remember if your still not sure about it check with an helpfull mechanic. if your vehicle has the factory books they will list how much oil and what type you need to use

Transmission oil change

I take it you are talking auto transmission. Un do the drain plug in the box sump or if you do not have one remove the sump. replace filter in the sump . replace the sump with a new gasket and refill the sump. IF there is nothing wrong with the transmission and you only want to change the oil the best practice is to take it to a auto transmission shop where they can change the oil with the engine running and this changes the oil in the torque converter as well giving you a complete oil change. IT is more expensive as more oil is used but it changes all the oil and not just a part of the system. If your are talking manual, then remove the drain plug in the bottom of the gear box and when all the oil is out replace the plug tightly and remove the filler plug in the side of the box. Add oil until it runs out of the filler hole and when it stops replace the filler plug tightly. Use the correct grade of oils in both cases.

TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGE

I have a 2004 R2 - CVT fluid is to be changed every 40,000km. I've changed mine once already. Taking the drain plug out of the transmission pan drains 2-3L. New fluid is added to the CVT 'dipstick' tube, which is just behind the radiator with a black plastic head on the dipstick. A local CVT specialist sold me type NS-2 fluid, which has been working well for 12,000km. I also changed the filter on top of the transmission with a WIX 51365 which my autoparts shop found using the OEM filter part number. Hope this helps!

Where can i find the oil gauge for a automatic transmisson for my 2008 FJ Cruiser

This transmission doesn't have transmission dipstick to check the oil, this is a 'sealed" transmission which uses WS (world standard) transmission fluid, toyota claims this fluid never needs servicing but most dealers recommend changing the fluid at 100,000 miles, I myself own an 07 and changed the fluid at 60,000. Changing the fluid requires some special equipment and procedure so it's best left to the toyota dealer on this one.

Hello, I have a question concerning my recently purchase 2001 Honda Civic CVT. When purchased we added 1 liter transmission oil, not knowing it needed special transmission oil for CVT's. Other people...

Just drain the oil. DO NOT FLUSH TRANSMISSIONS especially continuous varible transmissions. thats why they won't garantee there work. replace with specified MUGEN oil. its the only oil designed specificaly for HONDA's, pluse mugen is honda's performance company.

I need to replace the transmission fluid in my 1999 isuzu rodeo 4 wheel drv...auto trans.....6 cylnder....it is supposed to be done at the dealership....but i want to know if i can do it myself....ive been...

With an automatic transmission you will have to drop the transmission pan and replace the pan gasket and filter on the pick-up tube. You will not however drain all the oil out. In order to drain and chage all oil you will need a machine that the dealer or any oil change shop has. If you have a quick lube place nearby they will ussually change the trans oil for $75

Trying to find out how much oil the Triton V-10 takes when I do my oil change? I cant seem to find it or anyone who knows

It should be listed in the owners manual, but because of different oil cooler setups you may have to do the change yourself and add oil until the correct level is established..... for the first oil change.
Most likely 7 liters, but start with 5,run the engine to fill the oil filter, let it sit for 5 mins and recheck and fill to full.
Note the amount needed for next time.

Can i drain the transmission fluid on a 05 suzuki forenza my self?

yes. HOWEVER, whe you refill it. make sure that you put in the correct type of oil. refer to your owner manual prior to putting in any old automatice trranny fluid as some tranny's require a sopecial type of oil, put in the wrong one and you fry your transmission. If its a standard, put in the correct weight of gear oil. Not trying to scare you, but i want to make sure that your REFER TO YOUR OWNERS MANUAL for the correct type of oil to put in after you drain it.

good luck.

Does a mazda 323f 2001 model need gearbox oil change after some milage or is it a sealed unit?

Automatic and standard transmission needs fluid change every 24 months. On automatic transmissions, the gasket needs to be changed as well as the filter. On standard transmission there is a drain plug that can be loosened up, and refilled through the refill hole. Standard transmission use gear oil, while automatic transmission uses automatic transmission fluid.

PUT ABOUT HALF OLD OIL I HAD STORED IN TRANNY CONTAINER IN TRANNY

Improper fluids in a automatic transmission can cause severe results.
Drain the transmission fluid and change the filter.
If the car was running at the time you put engine oil in the transmission, I would also flush or drain the torque converter.
Replace with the proper amount and type of fluid.

How to change the automatic gearbox oil - Seat - Cordoba - 1996

There will be a plug on the bottom of the transmission casing to let the old gearbox oil out.
On an automatic trans the filler is usually on top at the trans dipstick.
On a manuel trans there is a plug about half way up the trans casing.
Drain fully and put in correct type and amount according to your manual. Do not put any old trans fluid in use the type and quantity recommended by the manufacturer!
I find myself just going to a Quick Lube Shop and letting them do it for a few bucks more.. They get it right and it's faster than me doing it myself.

Hope this will FixYa!
