Question about 1996 Ford Mustang

1996 ford mustang 6cyl auto trans

I think that satrter is gone, it's making that ckicking sound when I go to start it. Is this easy to get to/replace and how do I make sure first.

Make sure the cables from the battery to the starter are tight and try replaceing the starter solenoid. Follow the positive cable from the battery and it will go straight to the solenoid. Cheap stuff first.

sounds like valve seals,not an easy fix on the ohc motor.If the trans is an A L4d make sure the modulator is not leaking fluid into the vacuum line.

Thats usally a bad battery or bad battery cable connections. If the battery is garunteed to be good and charged, then start looking for a loose terminal or heavily corroded terminals.

Sounds like it's the stator in the converter. Best thing is to get overhualed if you intend to keep the car for a while longer. If not wrecking yard is your cheapest solution. Just flush your cooling system and change the filter in trans since it's out.

Need igntion cylinder. You should be able to buy one at any auto parts store. Usually comes with keys and directions very easy to replace 10 min job.

Old fluid and filter, maybe the modulator. Could need tranny service but changing the fluid is cheapest route to start with.

Is the motor from a 2004 Cobra an easy swap into a 1996 Cobra?


no you will need to change the exhaust, engine mounts, transmission mounts, tail shaft, trans cross member, wiring loom and computer if not more stuff i am shore it can be done but the expense will be huge
