You did'nt specify what year, make, model of vehicle but will try anyway.fuel pump relays are usually found in the main engine fuse box under the hood.look for a black box either on driver or passenger side fenderwell of the car. open the box and look under the lid cover for fuse and relay locations.the relay should be a square black object about 2inches in size and simply plugs into the fuse box like a fuse.just pull upwards on the relay and it should just unplug, then install the new one in same place, just push it into the open fuel pump relay position.very simple to do. if you don't find a main fuse box, please repost your question with all the information on the vehicle as possible.thank you for choosing fixya.com

Replaced fuel pump no gas from fuel tank

Hi Vicky
Please always include 'year make model' in all questions. It helps us to help you better.

All vehicles have a fuel pump relay.
Most vehicles has a fuse covering some part of fuel delivery.
Some vehicles have a crash sensor and/or breaker.

Your existing fuel pump should have been tested for both operation and pressure before replacing the old one. Diagnose first and then replace.

I have a 96 chevy cavalier that was rear ended and now my fuel pump is not working I need to know where the fusable links are that go to the fuel pump so i can check those before replacing my fuel pump

Easier to pull the fuel pump relay, and with a test light or voltmeter check the relay terminals for a power signal. If the power feed for the pump is a fusible link, likely it is a hot at all times power source. One relay terminal will then show power at all times.
You can also check for the relay's on signal from the computer. When the engine is cranking, the relay should have two hot terminals-the power feed for the pump and the computer signal to energize the relay.
Another way is to check for power at the fuel pump connector while the engine is being cranked over. If there is power then, you know the pump has to be taken out for inspection or replacement.

Fuel pump needs to be replaces on 2000 Chevrolet suburban, do I also need a new filter, relay and induction?

Do you know for sure that the fuel pump failed or do you have a bad relay? If the fuel pump relay is good no you don't need to replace it. The fuel pump unit comes with the sending unit and a sock filter. I would replace the inline fuel filter when you replace the pump. In line fuel filters need to be replaced every 36000 miles. If that filter starts to plug up it makes the pump work harder which leads to premature failure.

Turns over will not start; will start with starting fluid, anything I should check before removing fuel pump?

yes, check ECI relay first. Fuel pump is a big job, and relay is cheap. Relay is probably in the engine compartment relay box. If you want to check the relay before replacing it, carefully open it and put it back in the socket. Then have someone try to start the car while you watch to see if the relays are closing. Let me know if you have questions.

How do I change the fuel pump on a 2000 Acura TL?

hi, when you turn the ignition on do you hear the fuel pump start up if you do then the pump is fine if how ever you hear nothing then the chances are its going to either be the fuel pump or fuel pump relay, if you have a look in your fuse box you should be able to find the fuel pump relay if you cant locate it then its best you get a manual to show you the relays location, you can then put a finger on the relay and when you turn the ignition on you should feel a little click coming from the relay if you hear this then the pump needs replacing but if you hear or feel nothing then the chances are the relay needs replacing.

you can also check if the pump is working by removing the fuel feed hose from the injector fuel rail then once this is removed you put a tub under it then turn the ignition on if you have fuel shooting out then you know the fuel pump and relay are ok and you need to start thinking of some other problem such as ecu etc,

see what you find then get back to me and ill try and assist you further ok

Fuel pump does not come on

Check the fuse but there is a good chance your fuel pump needs to be replaced. If the fuse is good check for power to the pump first then you will know you need a pump

1993 lumina 3.1 engine. shuts down while driving, sometimes bucks at 50 m.p.h. checked plug at fuel pump harness and one pin had about 5 volts other 3 dead.swapped fuel pump relay and same thing.jumped...

the computer is what sends the signal to the fuel pump relay. Check the harness plug at the fuel pump again they tend to get loose. there is an updated replacement plug for this. also make sure the terminals on the fuel pump relay are clean and not corroded.

Fuel pump or fuel pump relay on 1989 Chevy Suburban 1500 4x4

the relay and fuse are in the power distribution box under the hood. as far a by pass you still can use an aftermarket electric pump ,however the cost will be about the same as re3moving the old pump in the tank if that is the cause in the first place. if all you need is the relay replaced then i'm sure that the pump is still good. if the pump is bad then make sure if you by pass the in tank pump that the new under hood electric pump has enough pressure to give the needed gpm(gallons per minute) required for your system and that if wired into the current fuel circuit that you dissconnect the wire harness to your tank pump

Fuel Pump Relay Switch

Underneath your hood, behind the passenger side headlight, behind the core support, is a bank of 2-8 relays. One of those relays is the relay needed for your fuel pump. There will also be a fuel pump relay fuse located there. The relay designation should be on the cover of the relay compartment.
