Question about 2003 Ford Escape
I bought this car 2003 escape used and I love it,but recently I noticed that when I step on my break and make a left turn I can hear a grinding sound. On top of that the airbag light is on and off as well as the emergency break.
The grinding noise could be indicative that the brake pads have worn off and the metal backing is grinding with the brake disc. This is further supported by the emergency brake light indicator which would illuminate (even when emergency/park brake is not engaged) when the brake fluid is low or the pads are too thin or gone (as in your probable case). Even though the grinding sound is only on the left side, it would be to your advantage to repalce both sides. Additionally, pls have the disc themselves checked as they may need re-surfacing.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
