Question about 2001 Honda Civic

2005 honda civic special edition

Hi there, I bought a 2005 honda civic special edition in sept 2004 right when they came off the asembly line. When i got it, it had only 13 kms on it. It is now 4 years old and has 102,000kms and the engine is blown. Honda is giving me problems with warrenty even though i have extended warrenty until 125,000kms. Is there a reason that the engine would blow on a car this young? Firs they thought it was the spark plug, they fixed the first spark plug, then they got a code for the first cylindar, then they fixed that, now they are telling me its the piston. They want me to get all kinds of receipts from every mechanic i have been to since sept. 04, or else i will have to pay $6000 to replace the engine. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much

Sounds like it burned a valve and some Honda's had problems with this if the valve were not periodically adjusted (this is not a recomended service), if this is the case then they have no way out of fixing it. i would have a leak down test performed on the suspect cylinder and if it proves to be a valve then your service records have nothing to do with this , wont happen from not changing the oil, the only thing that would cause this is air fuel mixture, improper cam timing, heat, excessive back pressure (plugged cat) broken timing belt ,and a few others make sure the car is bone stock and prepare for a fight . definitely get a second opinion -jeff

2005 civic ex special edition has cool air blowing out of vents in very cold weather....starts out warm but soon changes to cool and stays cool

Could be a couple things...

1. Bad Thermostat.
2. Bad Heater core.

The thermo is a easy fix if you're mechanically inclined. I would look at this first.

I have a 2005 Honda Civic EX Special Edition with 88K. At how many miles should I replace the timing belt?

i recommend replacing a timing belt at 90.000 miles your dealer is most likely to tell you the same thing. you really do not want it to break while driving it.depending on the motor you have,if it has O clearance on the valves. i'm not sure what size your motor is. most honda cars have O clearance on the cam shaft. that means in laymans terms, if the belt breaks while the vehicles moving, the valves will be crushed. that's a whole lot of money. if you bought your car new your handbook should tell you at what mileage what certain services your due for. i know there are 90.000 mile services and also 100.000 mile service. suggest you check with your local honda dealer just to be sure. thank you for choosing we're here to assist you anyway we can!

Your oil pump, located in the oil pan, is not working. This is VERY serious and you should not run the engine until it is fixed.
