If you just want to turn it off, then using the key in the passengerdoor, unlock the passenger door. this turns it off. then to enable it,double lock the doors with power door locks, and close the door... lookat the dash to see the security light flashing shows it active, andwhen it stops flashing it is armed.

You have placed a fuse where it isnt supposed to be or the brain box needs resetting or the alrm needs bypassing.

If the fuses are correct, you will need to call an autotechnician (NOT A MACHENIC) that has and obd1 diagnostic tool that can read , clear and reset the brain in the vehicle,, If you have a tool then by all means attempt to do so since you cannot cause further damages if not then there isnt much you can do except call a technician..

you can try a hard reset,,

1.) disconnect the battery
2.) have some one mash the break straight down and hold
3.) open the driver door
4.) reconnect the battery
5.) while still holding the brake down accelerate twice
6.) turn the iginition to on
7.) close the driver door
8.) release the brake
9 open and close the driver door
nb this does not work on european models

to bypass the alarm simply disconnect the red , yellow and green wires from the controll box

NB there should also be a kill swith for the alarm,, cheack the fuse box or behind the dash

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jul 12, 2008

The alarm is patched into the eletrical, find the alarm fuse and remove it from eighter the alarm unit or the power fuse for it. The car should still start unless you got an immoblizier, in which case the bypass is different. All you simply need to do is disconnect the alarm this will stop the power kill on the ignition, if it immoblisiers the starterm simply trun the ignition on (after the alram is disconnected) and bridge the starter with a screw driver ((

NTW the alarm control unit is a small black bow woth a lot of wires hidden behind the dash

Hi,

It would seem that the vehicle has an alarm/security system and has been activated. Pls post back if it is built-in to the Jeep or an add-on.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

If it is factory built-in...for some reasons, there are two (2) versions of the remote/alarm:

if you have a 4 BUTTON REMOTE CONTROL: - You will need to take the unit out of safety mode, to do this you will need to ground the hood pin switch wire, then put your foot on the brake,
next hit any button on the remote and the clicking will stop. Then you will need to take the hood pin switch wire off of ground and take your foot off of the brake and see if the remote will work with the unit

if you have a 2 BUTTON REMOTE CONTROL - You will need to take the unit out of safety mode, to do this you will need to put your foot on the brake, next hit any button on the remote and the clicking will stop. Then you will need to take your foot off of the brake and see if the remote will work with the unit.

    Cheers.

How doyou disarm the factory alarm system in a 1994 jeep grand cherokee my alarm system keeps shutting down the whole car it is a real pain to get it started again i just want to totally shut the alarm...

The security alarm system on the 1994 Jeep Cherokee arms itself on any normal exit from the vehicle, i.e. ignition off, open door, lock door with power door locks, close door. If the doors are locked with the key, it does not arm.
If the battery is disconnected, then reconnected, the alarm system will go into powerup alarm mode. The lights will flash, but the horn will not blow.
The alarms can be disarmed by a keyless vehicle remote or by unlocking either of the front doors or the read lift gate with the key. If the key method does not work with any of those three entrances, there is a problem either with the input to the alarm module or the module itself.
There is a switch in both front doors and the tailgate which is activated by manualy unlocking those doors. The alarms can be disabled by permanently grounding the wire going from either of those switches to the alarm module, but this will remove all theft protection.
The best thing to do is to find out why the system is going off in the first place. It could just be a glitch, a loose connection that can be fixed fairly easily and keep your theft protection intact.

No horn in '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee

go to the horn under your hood, check it for any thing wrong, then follow the power wire and follow it back to your steering wheal. this is where your problem is you just have to find out where the short is. and fix it.

How can I reset my Factory Alarm on my Jeep it wont run

Alarm Module Reset Procedure
NOTE: This information applies to a Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) that was armed when the battery was disconnected and reconnected.
When the armed VTSS senses that the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, it enters its power-up mode. In the power-up mode the alarm system remains armed following a battery failure or disconnect. If the VTSS was armed prior to a battery disconnect or failure, the system will have to be actively or passively disarmed following a battery reconnection.
The power-up mode will also apply if the battery goes dead while the system is armed and battery jump-starting is attempted. The engine no-run feature will prevent the engine from starting until the alarm system has been actively or passively disarmed.
Passive disarming of the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) occurs when the vehicle is unlocked using the key to unlock either front door or the lift gate. Active disarming of the VTSS occurs when the vehicle is unlocked by depressing the Unlock button of the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.
Once the alarm has been activated (horn sounding, lights flashing, and the engine no-run feature), either disarming method will deactivate the alarm.
Depressing the Panic button (if equipped) on the RKE transmitter will also disarm the VTSS, but the horn will sound and the lights will flash for about three minutes as part of the Panic feature. The horn and lights can be stopped by pressing any of the RKE transmitter's buttons or driving the vehicle above 15 mph.
