Hi
Very common fault on the TDCI "EGR valve" also known as the exhaust gas recycler valve, this is the classic symptons of this fault. and hardly any power from the engine, struggles on hils, normally has an engine light on, not always.
You can reomve this part and try cleaning it with Carburetter cleaner, do not touch it directly, and leave to dry naturaly then refit, they do a dirty job and often get sooted up and start to fail, also have you noticed any black or darker smoke from the exhaust, if so then again thats a good indicator it's the EGR valave, they are not so cheap around £200 in the UK, like I say though do try and clean it.
The EGR tkaes any unburnt fumes from the exhauist and forces them back into the engine to reburn them, this lowers the emmissions aand in someways is like a small turbo. hope this explains it.
