On jeep Radio use 2 fuses on under dash fuse panel.
1 is hot at all time, and 1 is powered with the ignition switch.
check the fuses and if nessesary remove the radio and check
On rear of the radio. the connector for corrosion include the ground wire.

With the radio out try to powered on and check if the radio is not Overheated.

Bucause overheat can be a problem too.

I don't know if your jeep has a Audio Amplifier, if yes the amplifier is located under the front passenger seat.

You can check for corrosion due to wet floor ot humidity.

    And check if is overheated..

    Buacause can be possible too.

    I hope this work.

    THank you.

Hi,

To my knowledge, the stock/factory has an inline fuse at the rear of the radio with another in the fuse box. Pls check if they may be loose or the connectors are corroded/heating up.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Additionally, pls check the grounding of the radio. If the fuses checks out as well as the grounding, then perhaps it may be internal to the radio and would require removal and diagnosis/repair.

Since the radio works even for a short time, it is very possible that the problem is heat related or a cold solder in the PCD (printed circuit board). If however eventual diagnosis reveals components due for replacement you may want to consider the downtime and cost of repair if you are not intending to do a DIY. Perhaps it may be cheaper and faster to replace.

If on the otherhand you are intending to do your own repairs, then pls post back the brand/make/model of the radio.

    Cheers.

Why the radio wont stay on after you enter the code it comes on then goes off after you turn car off or on

Check your fuses. Whichever one protects the circuits that stay energized when you shut the car off is probably blown; when you shut down the car, the radio's memory is being lost because it is losing power.

My dome lights stay on for about 15 to 20 minutes and my radio shuts off now when i turn the car off, it normally stays on when car is turned off until you open a door.

This is normal...........The dome light will give you time to collect your belongings and the radio or music of your choice will stay playing for about 15 min unless the door opens..............It is just the way cadi rolls........Hope this helps.

I have change my battery and now my stereo stayed on for only fifteen minutes. And it shut off

Mine does to for the it has a power accessory retainment module doing this for you. The new battery may had sparked new life into it for I seen it happen in my Ford truck. Mine did quit years ago and when I installed a new battery it started working again for 15 minutes after shutting of. This is provide that that radio was on at the time shutting off your engine and the doors stays closed. When opening any door the radio should go off automaticly

Nothing wrong with it. When you remove the key, it stays on for about 20 minutes. It gives you time to finish listening to your radio and roll up the window. Once the driver door is open, everything shuts off or if 20 minutes has passed.

Radio stays on.

It would be best to pull the radio fuse leaving it out for several minutes then replace it. tis may well fix the problem but if it doesn't you can remove the fuse agin knowing it will not drain the battery over night

Radio will not shut off until I open and close another door

The theft light coming on is normal. Also, the radio will stay on for about 10 minutes after the key is removed and you do not open the doors.
