Ok, I did more research you are right they don't have a relay, just the I thought a 20A fuse, If you have 12V at the light socket. Then it sounds like you have a ground problem. Check your grounds make sure there isn't corrosion etc. Clean them up I think this may be your issue. You changed the switch so that is the only other thing that would usually cause that. Check your grounds and let me know.
