Check the wires to be sure they are in tbe correct firing order and the gap in the plugs will still let the motor start but run rough

I need to know where the plug wires go.from spark plug to distibuter cap on a 1986 4.1 coupe deville(cad.)

FIRING ORDERS NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired. Changed spark plugs in 1993 ford thunderbird 3.8. now engine runs very rough..almost like it wants to stop running.

double check that you put in the right spark plugs. motorcraft and autolites work well. also make sure that you put the wires on in the proper order. you can find the firing order on line. one more thing is make sure that you didn't crack a spark plug putting them in. Oh and if one of your old plugs have what looks like a black crack in it you have bad wires.

How do I uninstall and install an alternator on a '93 thunderbird??

ericka1 hold up on the alternator! You have a new battery in the car, now what's going on? When u turn the key on, does your engine turn over (crank)? The alternator charges the battery when the car is running, if u have a new battery in the car, it should start, even if the alternator is bad. The alternator would cause the battery to lose it's charge if it is bad. So, 1st thing to check (if car won't start), is there spark at the spark plugs, and is fuel getting to the spark plugs. You must have both for the car to start and run. Check that out 1st, and provide info, we can take it from there.
