Question about 1988 Subaru GL-10
All of a sudden the window child lock will not work in my 1988 Subaru wagon. I can not put the passenger side window or read windows down and if I were to get them down, I would be afraid that I could not get them back up. Is this something I can fix myself? If so how?
I have 88' wagon and the same thing happened, its the switch, you have to take off the door panel, then the switch board, then take apart the switch board but be careful if you just pull it apart all the parts from all the other switches will fly all over the place,(guess how i found that out), on mine the child lock switch just had a corner broken off so the spring inside the plastic switch fell out along with the small red piece(you'll see) that touches the contact. just super glue the broken off piece back to the switch put it all back together, set the switch to off so the windows will let up and down and you're done. I would suggest not using the switch after you get it back in there just because the superglued part may or may not hold up if you flip the switch repeatedly. mine has held up just fine over a year after i did this
