Just today my 2002 Taurus began acting up in the same manner. When I was coasting my car stalled & all of the dash lights lit up. It happened a few times with the same scenario. I didn't have my recall work completed & I am beginning to wonder if by waiting I have now messed up my car. Before this started my door open light remained lit, then I had a hard time getting my dome lights to turn off, sometimes needing to take it around the block & try turning it off again. This past winter I also had to replace my alternator. I wonder if by waiting to have my wire harness & stop lamp switch replaced I now have a long list of issues. If so I was also wondering if Ford would have to fix it if it falls under the umbrella of the recall problems.

Try cleaning your MAF (Mass Air Flow ) sensor, when my sensor went bad I couldn't keep the car running and it threw wierd codes on the computer.

You need to take it to the shop. If you don't have the diagnostic tools for this one you are hosed. I am all for do it your selfers, but this is not a simple thing. You are talking about possibly taking your dash apart. This is why the techs make the big bucks. Sorr

This could be many things, start by retrieving any codes the emission system may have thrown, may need a tune up, may have jumped timing, may have a head gasket blown.

TRUCK BATTERY DIES,STARTS WHEN JUMPED BUT WONT STAY RUNNING WITHOUT FOOT ON GAS

Some models have to be retaught how to idle once the battery dies, so you need to start the truck and feather the gas peddle to keep it running and do this for a few minutes, the computer has to relearn how to idle the engine.

Truck will not stay running without giving gas after a jump off

when the battery goes dead it looses its memory on engine settings like idle speed.. two things you can do first one is to clean the throttle bore with carb cleaner... the other is to start with foot on gas and slowly bring it back to idle... it will pick up the idle air position to keep itself running if you do it slowly... everything happens over time so as the throttle gets dirty the computer makes these adjustment on its own and when the battery dies it starts out basicly at different percentage of idle control tht it really needs because of the carbon buildup on the throttle plates

you will find you have a code 12 again... you are in "limp home" mode.... you need to check either the overdrive solenoid or the o2 sensors

If no trouble codes, perhaps a good cleaning of throttle body intake, with throttle body cleaner will help. Lets try the easy & cheap things first.
