2000 bmw 528i DSC , TRANSMISSION & engine light on

experiencing any warning lights?

The transmission has gone into limp mode. My Boomer done the same thing' if it wont reset itself i think the only option is a BMW dealer to faultfind. Very complicated computor controlled transmission beyond any novice im afraid.

if it is stuck in low gear suspect a speed sensor issue.If it is stuck in a higher gear such as 2nd or 3rd you will need to retrieve codes from the trans computer to diagnose.

You will need to get it diagnosed to see which wheel sensor is bad.

If both the abs and the brake light are on on the speedo dont work them the module is bad.

Also make sure the tire pressures are the same

Darrell, The trans went into limp mode. 41te trans do funny things. The limp setting is so you can get home or to the dealer. As for the slipping , check fluid first. If ok scan for codes from trans...

Dodge is wildly known for there trans problems 3rd gear is the default gear or what they call the limp home mode.trans failure is the most likley cause I put 3 transmissions in my 99 before I got rid of it

DTC P0734 is "4th gear incorrect ratio" - that's your torque converter 'LOCK UP Clutch" It's worn out (or you're using the wrong Trans Fluid required by Hyundai - SPIII OR Both). The P1624 is simply the Trans Control Unit (computer) communicating to the Engine Control Module (ECM computer) MIL - on request signal to ECM = asking it to turn on "Check Engine" light. MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp. When the torque converter 'lock up" clutch slips or doesn't engage, the trans automatically returns to 3rd gear and stays there (it's called 'fail safe' mode) until you cycle the ignition key, then everything resets until the malfunction occurs again.
You'll need to have an AT (Automatic Transaxel) tester hooked up to verify this. Hyundai has a Service Bulletin specifically for "gear incorrect ratio' codes. If when you changed the trans fluid, was it done at a Hyundai Service Center? If not, someone may have installed the wrong fluid.

• It is a transmission related problem. It could be electrical, transmission or... nothing. The trans prog message cause the E34 to run in 3rd gear only, that is the reason wht you feel the car has no power. Check:
1) Turn the car off and wait 10min - 2) Main power relay, power to trans control module - 3) Gear selection switch - 4) Program switch (Manual or Auto) - 5) Computer box - 6) At last, the transmission.
