Question about 1992 Mazda 626

94 mazda626 v6

Hi guys, a friend of ours rang one day saying her car (the 626) was over heating. I told her to bring it around (bad mistake). Her over heating problem was easy solve and repair. Burst hose, the little one that runs from the throttle body. Her other problem was that the car didn't idle properly, constantly chasing from 1500 to 2500RPM. That problem I also solved, idle control valve was the culprit. Started the car after all this and now it idles a bit rough but doesn't chase anymore but when I put my foot on the accelerator it chocked. I tried applying steady slow acceleration and noticed it would choke at 2500 rpm. The fuel light was on so thought maybe its too low and put more fuel in. Problem still there. It has me puzzled as the problem happened after the new hose and air filter were put in but at that stage the idle control valve was also playing up. It also sort of backfires but internally, when the throttle is fully open and engine is choking (literally goes from 2500rpm to put put) there are faint popping noises from inside the engine. I'm stumped, can you help?
Regards, Pete.

Sounds like faulty cam shaft or crankshaft postioning sensor, or could be simple timing problem check belt positioning and allignment marks in repair manual if correct check sensors (details in troubleshooting section of repair manual) if still stumped either buy a OBDI scanner and have at it easy to use, or take it to a shop with OBDI diagnostics. also sometimes even a faulty oxygen sensor can do that, or air mass sensor ut to be sure scan it!

How can i fix my mazda 626 transmission range

The transmission range sensor aka neutral safety switch is located underneath the air filter on top of the transaxle and very easy to access. Replace this part (around $50) and it will solve your problem.
What happens is this, when your tranny warms up, it disperses heat to the sensor switch and if its faulty or worn out, will send faulty relays to the transmissiom computer module (TCM) and makes the transmission shift irratically (OD to 3rd and back while driving at freeway speeds). You tranny is not overheating like most people believe, its the switch. Mechanics are telling alot of people that their tranny needs replaced. Watch Out For These People!! They only want your money!!

Sounds like it could be the Idle Air Control Valve. I can't say more without knowing which codes your car is throwing.

95 mazda 626 wont get out of park

it is under the shirter AND it connects to the transmission under the hood. I beleive on that model you would need to jack the car up possibly loosen the tans to get to the side connected to the trans.
