Alarm was tripped and can't get it to turn off.

While jump starting my 97 jetta the alarm was tripped and i can't get it to go off. They say to use the key with the door lock but the only problem is that the locks are all screwed up and that is not an option for me.I can't get the car started at all since the alarm is going nutts. Does anyone know how to fix this issue without using the door lock method. This car is just a gas friendly junker to keep me from driving my truck all over the place so paying a dealer to fix it would not be worth it. Please help. Thanks alot

Battery cable was disconnected, when re-connected the alarm went off, and car will not start. My door lock on the driver side does not function from the outside, I use the passenger side to unlock the car. Thank you very much for your assistance!

Two mornings ago, I was headed out the door when I noticed all the windows were open on my 97 VW Jetta GLS, the doors were in the lock position and the alarm activated. No signs of tampering. I inserted the key in the drivers door to unlock when the alarm become activated. I disconnected the battery and then re-connected. All seemed to be OK. Went back inside, cranked the car, and then proceeded to roll up the electric windows. All but one went up and now none of the windows will open or close. Now I'm having alarm system problems in additional to none of the electronic door looks work now.

    Any ideas??

Alarm keeps activating randomly even while driving. At times it can't be disabled unless you disconnect the battery.

car alarm activates when I start the car. It won't go off until I open the door. I can turn it off by opening the window then disabling it with the key, but it shouldn't do this.

You can actually fix the door locks the tumblers just get hung take the handles off then take out the tumblers and soak them in wd40 then take a screw driver and press on the tumblers one at a time they will free up then just put a little silicon lube on them and your good to go.My door locks was stuck on my 97 jetta and i fixed it this way.

Put a new battery in my 97 jetta gt alarm went crazy finally got alarm to shut off by unlocking passenger door but now my car won't start or turn over how do I fix

You surged the electrical system. Had a 97 Golf that did the same and had to be towed to the dealer for a reset. They disconnect the battery again and had to reset everything plus probably replace a few fuses. I'd start with fuses connected to your starter and engine systems.

My alarm system isn't working right

Make sure the battery is fully charged, and check for corrosion on the terminals/wires, make sure no wires are loose. If this alarm is like my friend's Camaro, a power disruption trips the alarm.

This morning I came out to start my 96 jetta and the battery seemed dead. So I began the process of getting a jump and as soon as we connected the jumper cables to the jetta the alarm started going off. We...

The immobilizer feature was tripped when the alarm went off. It sounds like the battery was indeed dead. My Nissan 300ZX used to trip the alarm when I jump-started it, although my Audi A4 does not. When the alarm is going off, you have to disarm it with the key or key fob first, or you won't be able to start it. Try putting the key in the door, lock it, unlock it, lock it again, and unlock it again, just to make sure you get a couple of arm/disarm cycles, then try starting it.
