That may be possible, tho it would not be the first time I have seen a faulty product right out of the box, in fact we replaced one today that only lasted a few weeks, and about a week ago i almost installed one with a faulty bearing. A quick spin and you could hear a horrible racket from the rear bearing.
Was the part a new one, rebuilt, or re-manufactured.
I would give lordco a call with the part number and see if it matches what they come up with for a part again. They have a reasonable return policy and you should be able to get a warranty replacement tho you may need to talk to a manger.
I highly doubt wrong part #. I suspect 2 things. 1) Alternator was damaged when installed and or 2) voltage regulator is bad also. To clarify - whenever you're working on Chrysler or any other cars' electrical system, you MUST always disconnect both battery cables & when re-attching MUST always attach NEGATIVE CABLE LAST or you can cause a power surge through the system. Early Chrysler products are super sensitive to surges. I'd get alternator warrantied (because rebuilts are covered for "X" amount of time) and replace voltage reg at same time. Follow above steps and you should be good to go.
