2005 Escape V6 4x4

Problem whn accelerating will hesistate engaging of gears-a second or so delay then you can feel it engage. Just had both rear wheel speed sensors replace due to ABS & 4x4 lights on-this has corrected that but wondering if this problem is related?

Gear hits and jerks when being engaged especially when engaging in the reverse

It sounds like a delayed shift issue, does the engine idle speed sound or feel like it is to high? That can cause this issue.

Car jolts when accelerating

HAVE YOU THE SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM? I FEEL I HAVE A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM. WHEN I PUSH THE ACCELERATOR FULL THROTTLE, WHEN THE 3 GEAR PASS TO 4 GEAR I HAVE A VIOLENTLY KICK. BUT IF I DON`T PUSH FULL THROTTLE THE TRANSMISSION FEELS GOOD. IF YOU HAVE A SOLUTION PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I ALL READY CHANGE THE VALVE BODY, ALSO I TRY WITH AN OTHER COMPLETE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME.

When I shift gears while plowing, the front transfer case doesn't engage for a couple seconds. What could cause this?

If you are under power when you shift into 4wd. the system will-not let it engage untill the speeds of the front and rear gears are close to the same speed. It's a saftey issue so no damage will occour.

Not sure if the hubs are engaging?

Well, the best way is to place the vehicle on a hoist and raise all 4 wheels off the ground and put it in 4WD and see if all the wheels start turning.

Another way is to make a really sharp (slow) turn while the unit is in 4 wheel high or 4 wheel low on dry pavement. You should be able to feel the driveline wrap-up caused by the front wheels trying to grab during the hard turn.

4 Low should be easily distinguishable from 4 High as well as 2 Whl when you accelerate and it feels like the transmision is stuck in low gear and the engine starts screaming for mercy at high RPM and you are only doing 30 MPH.

Would a P0742 TCC open code cuase no engagement in

The car most likely needs a new TCC solenoid. These were a common failure in G.M. cars causing the symptoms you were describing. Other symptoms may include: shudder or stalling at stops, car lugging on acceleration, harsh shifts, etc. Car may feel like stuck in second gear on stopping and taking off from stop. I hope this helps.

Engaging gears on X type 2004 2.o D SE

its the clutch, clutch plate worn and pressure plate spring a bit weak on one side and dragging.when engaging first engage second first then push up into first.or turn off engine ,engage first then start engine in gear. When changing clutch fit only a valeo, borg and beck.any branded make but not a reconditioned unit. This is a JAG remember,so no smoking in car, polish every sunday and cream the leather every second week .
