Question about 1998 Nissan Sentra

1 Answer

Ignition beeps On a 1998 Sentra, when you turn off the ignition, does it beep 5 times? We have an after-market imobilizer that we are having problems with. My husband insists that it is disconnected, but when you turn the key off, it beeps five times. Is this part of the immobilizer or do Sentra's just do that? We've only had it a week, and it was running fine and then just quit. We thought it might have to do with this imobilizer, so just wanted to dismantle it. Is there more to it than just disconnecting the wires? Thanks for your help.

Curious, do you have an aftermarket radio in the car? Some aftermarket car radios will beep 5 times to remind you to take the face off.

I have 1998 mirage i recently replaced ecu ignition and imobilizer module it now runs but sounds louder than before it seems like a deeper note at air box and just dont seem the same could it be ignition...

This could be different programming of the new ECU. You might also need to get it tuned with the new ECU. It could have changed the ignition timing.

In the last 5 weeks the car engine has cut out 3 times so i have had to disconect the battery then connect it back after 1 minute then it starts back up.

the problem is the imobilizer that needs to be changed. sometimes, probably because you leave the key in the ignition whit the car stoped, and go out for a few minutes, it arms the imobilizer and then you only will fix it if you turn the batery off.

Hi, I have a check front tire pressure warning on my 2009 saturn vue hybrid I filled up the tire it's not low at all, how do I get rid of the indicator warning? Thanks Amanda

The TPMS light (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) for that vehicle should function as follows.

If the light is on and steady, it means that the pressure in one or more of the tires is too low, and if the light is flashing, then it indicates that one or more of the tires are over-inflated.

1. Turn the ignition key to the "On" or "Run" position but do not start the vehicle. (If the vehicle has an electronic keyless ignition then place the ignition switch in the "ACCY" position)

2. Press the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons at the same time on the vehicles remote key fob, and keep holding the two buttons down until you hear the horn beep, and usually this takes around five seconds. The horn beep will indicate that the learn cycle has begun.

3. Re-learn the TPMS system. Deflate or inflate air into the driver-side front tire for approximately 8 to 10 seconds and then listen for the horn to beep one time. (the horn might beep before the 8 to 10 second re-learn, or it could even take as long as 30 seconds after)

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the remaining three tires. Also, the remaining three tires must be checked in the exact following order, the passenger-side front tire, the passenger-side rear tire and finally the driver-side rear tire. After the final TPMS sensor has re-learned then the horn will beep twice.

5. Listen for the horn to beep twice. When the horn does beep twice, it wikll be the indicator that the TPMS system has re-learned and reset.

6. Turn the ignition switch to the "Off" position, and then be certain that all four tires have the correct tire pressure as recommended on the drivers door, and the next time that the ignition is turned on, the tire pressure light should be reset.

Let me know if you require any further assistance.

98 celica battery went dead replaced now it want crank

Try this: Unhook the battery. Reconnect the battery. When the horn starts to beep, cycle the ignition key in the ignition on-off 5 times. This resets the alarm; the cycling of the key. Please advise me if this works for you.

Loud Beeping noise when the car is started

If you are using the smart key and you do not have it in the ignition, it will send a signal thru the car speakers to let you know that the keys are not in the ignition(beep, beep, beep, beep), and that they are to far from the sensor. Next time you are driving and the keys are in your pocket, pull them out and wave them around the speedometer. It will notice keys in car and the beeping will go away.
