If the belt is not new? Replace it . If it is new and its stretching? You might have ruined it by overtightening. I see this a lot.You want some play in between pullys. if you tightened it and it was so tight you coudn't move the belt when pressing down with pinky between pullys? Its over tightened and the belt is ruined. make sure all pullys aren't out of round (warped) That would do it too.
Please give me good feedback on here.

The belt has a spring loaded tension pulley that keeps the belt tight. There is no adjustment. The belt has probably stretched so far the tension pulley cant' take up the slack, Replace the belt. Make sure it's the belt making the noise. An alternator can make the same sound when the bearings fail.

The drive belt has an automatic tensioner pulley. It will be a pulley on it's own attached to an arm. It'll be the top left pulley under the drive belt if there are only 2 at the top, or it'll be on the top righton top of the drive belt if there are 3 or 4 pulleys across the top.

Check to make sure it is moving freely. You can do this by attaching a wrench to it and moving it down if it is under the belt, or up if it is ontop of the belt. It should require a bit of force. If it doesn't move or is easy to move then it needs to be replaced. If it feels like it's moving freely and the spring seems strong then your belt is stretched past it's limit and needs to be replaced.

Alternatively it may be screeching due to a pulley seizing up. Check to make sure things like the idler pulleys or the A/C and Alternator pulleys move freely.

Tighten Serpentine Belt

Technically, you don\'t. The tensioner pulley keeps the belt tight. If you took the belt off and put it back on, and now it is not tight, it may be on one of the pulleys wrong.

How do i tighten the timing belt on my 1989 pontiac

I assume you are replacing the belt and also the waterpump, the waterpump is what tightens the timing belt, it spins in the housing in an oval shaped housing and tightens or loosens the belt, you need to loosen the waterpump bolts and rotate the pump to tighten the timing belt, make sure theres a small amount of slack in the belt after you tighten it, you dont what the belt too tight, you should be able to grab belt and move in and out an inch. heres a diagram to make sure all timing marks are lined up. note if the timing belt is being replaced you really should install a new waterpump and check the timing pulleys. good day.

How to tighten up my timing belt on 1989 Ford Escort LX? because it make's a sqeaking noise.

Timing belts don't squeak unless they are worn out or one of the belts idler pulleys is bad or the tensioner is bad. You never adjust the timing belt unless it is new. PERIOD.

I need to replace the a/c unit on my 1989 suburban 350 w/rear air

Switch or plug...plug must go where the harness can be connected to it (the same as it is on the old one)
If you need step by step directions get an inexpensive manual to walk you through it. Put A/C oil on any O rings to prevent them from rolling over.Tighten any "flange" type connections equally on both sides. After installing, system must be evacuated with a pump, to remove air & moisture.
This MUST be done before charging.
good luck

1989 chevy suburban 5.7

You need to purchase an A/C compressor deletion pulley from an auto parts store. This takes the place of the compressor pulley, so that your serpentine belt will still work. They are about $60.
