Question about 2005 Ford F 250 Super Duty

1 Answer

2005 F250 Super Duty Power Stroke 6.0

I have a 2005 F250 6.0 diesel. It has 113,650 miles on it. Recently it started to hesitate on going forward from a standing stop. One thing I have noticed (the rattling noise that you hear when the truck is at idle) is that at times the "noise" disappears when at a stop light and that always preceeds the "bad" hesitation when strting off.

It sounds like your EGR valve is sticking, the EGR valve position sensor is bad or the EP sensor is bad.

wiring harness under dash.
wires coming off top of fuel tank.
check all fuses.
do you do a lot of off roading - you may have cut or pulled a wire out.
finally you may have:
1. a bad fuel tank sending unit - need to drop the tank to replace.
2. a bad fuel gage.
3. a bad instrument panel

I have a 2001 ford f250 powerstroke diesel was driving and transmision started to slip drove about 3 miles and now wont move forward at all but reverse works fine

Some of the Ford transmissions actually have an aluminum gear which will go out somewhere around 150 to 200 thousand miles. OR it could be really low on transmission fluid.

Yes, my 2003 did the same with about 75k miles on it, stranded me on days it stayed under 40F unless I plugged in the block heater the night before, then it started like a champ. Dealer replaced the relay and a control unit under ESP warranty. There's no way to fix this one without throwing parts at it.

Ford f250 diesel

The root cause of your concern may not be solved by the block heater more than likely you have some bad glow plugs or and bad glow plug relay, also which engine is it? 7.3 or 6.0 some 6.0 have a block heater but no cord
