First remove battery terminals and then locate the altrnator take pic so that you wont get confused while reconnecting the wires, onse you have removed wires then loosen the belt and flip it of the pully by removing the upper bolt of altrnator and remove the main bolt beneth the alternator. now replace with same type rebolt check the belt for frim thightness as before and then do the wiring.
Try tightining the fan belt. if that doesnt work try to jam a screw driver behind the pully without ruining it while looseing the pully. remember bolts comming off turn counter clockwise.
there is a pully to the bottom left of alt losen nut in center of pully then there is a bolt turn it an the pully will move get belt on an adj don"t forget to tighten nut on pully
FOR A 1.9L ENGINE. CANT SEND PIC, START BY PUTTING BELT OVER ALTERNATOR PULLY,THEN TO THE RIGHT OF POWER STEERING PUMP PULLY FROM THERE TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE IDLER PULLY , THEN UNDER THE A/C COMPR PULLY AND UNDER THE CRANK PULLY RELEASE TENSION ON TENSIONER BELT GOS UNDER TENSIONER.
if that dosnt have the automatic tenchener you will have to locate the pully that ajust its to parts to it losen the nut then tighten down the bolt then retighten the nut
One way you can usually tell is that the tensioner base mounts to engine with a bolt in the center of the casting, & pulley is offset from that casting. Put your wrench on the offset pulley bolt to relieve tension. There are various set-ups on that engine so maybe we better confirm which engine it is ?
from front of engine looking back, belt around bottom of crank pully, water pump is just above, left side of belt comes around water pump going counter clock wise, put belt over alternator, then straight across to a/c compressor,(make sure belt goes under any idler pullies, smooth side of belt to smooth side of pully)find your belt tensioner, pry back on tensioner(be carefull)and carefully place belt under roller pully of the tensioner, release and check allignment of belt prior to starting.oh ya make sure belt is in good condition.
