It's actually the meter recalculating distance. Keep in mind this is an estimate and not exact. This is constantly changes from driving habits to temperature changes. So don't rely heavily on the distance - it's just an estimate.

95 MIATA NO DASH LIGHTS ,

The first thing you should do is check the fuses. It's possible that a fuse has blown, causing the lack of power to the dash lights, gas gauge, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, and instrument panel lights. If the fuses are all good, then you may need to check the wiring harness for any loose connections or damaged wires. If the wiring is all good, then you may need to replace the instrument cluster.

Town and Country Van running out of gas and guage says half a tank what could be the problem?

If your fuel gauge is showing you in accurate readings this is normal to all vehicles that are not used to fill-up gas full regularly but sometimes the cause of the inacuracy is due to faulty float valve in the gas tank you need to replace it

Since it is an older vehicle, check under the dash for any "rigging" that might have been done over the years. Start at the battery and follow all electrical wires that lead into the dashboard and fuse panels and check for any frayed or split lines that might be causing you to have a short circuit somewhere. that's what it sounds like to me. Unless you have a huge sound system with some 15" woofers in the trunk you shouldn't be experiencing any power shortages.

Gas gauge wont work and horrible gas mileage

It should get 22 city and just over 28 hwy.Combined should be about 24 mpg. With a 13.2 gallon tank you should get about 285 miles on a tank. 142 on a half tank and 71 on 1/4 tank. If it gets less you should replace things like air & fuel filter, plugs, pcv valve. Also check pvc hose going to intake manifold while running engine. Sounds like you need to replace the tank sending unit. My focus does pretty good on gas if it is driven easy like grand ma drives.

the fuel gauge sending unit in the gas tank is a mechanical part, but you may have an electrical problem. the needle is moved by an electrical signal. you can check the wires coming out of the back of the gauge, one will run to a chassis ground. make sure that wire has a good connection to ground, first because it won't work right without it and second because it's lots easier than the next thing you will have to do if that doesn't make an improvement. if you see no difference after checking the ground then you need to drop the tank and replace the fuel level sending unit. you will have to remove the fuel pump to get to it so you might want to replace it while you have it out, that's your call. your vehicle is new enough that the decision would be more based on miles than age. hope that helps

2002 BMW 325 gas gauge problem?

Those vehicles have to sending units. Your fuel signal is buferred ( calculate) so it takes both signals to make your gauge accurate. sounds like one them is out of range causing your gauge to read icorrect. You do need to take to your nearest BMW shop, so it can be properly diagnose.
