Our taurus started with a slight skipping and then it stopped. We took it to the shop it wouldn't do it for the mechanics. And now it is skipping and the engine light is on and won't go off. Please help we spent our money on the car and can't go back to the shop and now we're afraid of being stranded in it. And it is only means of transportation. Thanks!!!

Correct CAN/OBD2 Reader/Scanner

Hi Solomon, If you would like to buy a scanner you should be aware that using the device points you in the direction of a fault but is not an automatic fix for your vehicle. As an example, the diagnostic scanner may indicate a fault with the throttle position sensor. You go out, buy a replacement, fit it and after fitting the same fault shows up again, because the problem is with the adjustment not the unit. I like the Carman Scan. Regards John

Check engine light------speed control

Hello
When the service engine soon light (Also called the check engine light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that powertrain control module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.

My 2001 Ford Crown Victoria has had the check engine light on for a while, and the code came up as something to do with the fuel pump circuit. Now I've been seeing some sluggish acceleration and a kind...

Take it to a repair shop & then use the
computer to study OBD2 Systems & get
a cheap code reader

Look at a fuse, they do not fix anything
& hardy ever blow.

When you say check light has been on for awhile
Are you not aware of why the dash light come on?
They have been on all vehicles for 31 years now

Any dash light is a System Malfunction,& you need to
check for codes within a couple of days or stop using
the car, each & every time, unless you understand the
current OBD2 Systems & have at least a code reader

2001 chevy silverado the sevice light is blinking one side 4 ciliders only seems to be working?

You need to connect a scan tool or trouble code reader to your OBD2 connector under the dash board. Repost trouble codes after you know what they are.

Auto Zone and some other auto parts stores will let you use their code readers/scan tools.

When your SES is flashing, your engine is running in a state which could cause damage.

Your problem could be as simple as a failed oxygen sensor, but you need to know the codes.

Good Luck!
