Yes. After 100,000 miles you risk it breaking when your driving the car. If that happens it will certainly bend the push rods and damage the valves. That will cost 10x more. Better off not to gamble on it and just replace it now.

When should a 2008 Ford escape hybrid at 80,000 miles timing chain be changed

Is there any reason to believe that the timing chain needs to be changed. Transmission sensors, bad fuel filters, dirty air filters, poor fuel quality and worn spark plugs can all affect timing. I would check for play in timing chain. If the vehicle is taken care of and oil and other fluids are changed regularly, timing chains can last a very long time. Much longer than 80000 miles.

AT WHAT MILEAGE SHOULD A TIMING CHAIN BE REPLACED IN A 2001 FORD ESCAPE?

There is no specified mileage. Timing chains last a lot longer than timing belts and the rate at which they wear can depend more on the frequency of oil changes and engine use or abuse. The general rule of thumb most shops go by now; if it's getting noisy, then it's time to pull the timing cover. Often times it's not the chain itself, but the chain guides that have failed. Either way, a timing chain job will involve new guides, tensioner, and chain. It's an expensive job, no need to rush into it unless you know you have something coming apart and noise is your first indicator.

My 2002 ford escape have 120500 miles, do i have to replace the timing chain?

The 4-cylinder 2.0-liter 16-valves DOHC 127-hp Ford Zetec engine used a timing belt that needs replacement at 120k. After 2005 both, the 2.3-liter 4-cylinder and the 3.0-liter V6 engines have a maintenance-free timing chain.

I would recommend changing the water pump while you are at it.

The 2.0 timing belt labor is 4 hours and the water pump is 10 hours in addition. Not a fun job.

Here's the process:

What is the schedule replacement mileage for a 2003 Ford Escape Timing Chain

If your car has a chain there is not a scheduled replacement. A timing chain should last as long as the engine. No need to replace the chain. Now things can happen such as a guide wearing out or a drive / driven gear wears out, then a chain should be replaced. You do not need to replace a chain under normal usage. *** Now the 2000 - 2004 Escape with a 2.0L (4 cylinder) does have a BELT and yes, belts should be changed (Ford recommends) every 60,000 miles or 7 years which ever comes first.
