MAZDA MX6 1993: 4WS & Fuel lights on

Hi There

I'm having problems with my car at the moment. Can you help?

The lights for the 4ws has been lit for the past few days. I had a mechanic changed the discs and brake pads a coule of weeks ago? what could be the problem?

Also the fuel light in the front panel has come on for a while although the petrol is full and the gauge working properly. What do you think?

Thank you for your help

Usually there is a senser on your disk pad with the wire connect to the light, when the pad is too low, the senser touch the disk rotor and grounded, the light is on.

If you do not use the original disk pad from the dealer, the senser is not build in, when you put the disk pad, must put right and connect the wire right, otherwise it will go on. No harm at all. just one pad didn't right, the light will on.

I don’t know what pad you put in.

About the fuel light;

How long the light going on or just a little while?

Your first option should be to check all the connections. Corrosion and moisture can set in if the cars left unused for any length of time. Check your fuses around the brake system; this could be a problem for grease losing, damage the axle in short time. Other posibility is one electricla switch or sensor bad.

The 4WS system is a fairly complex setup hence Toyota will probably charge an arm and a leg for fixing any fault on it (also it is a *** option).

There are five main components, main motor, backup motor, speed sensor, steering sensor and 4WS computer so it could be any of these, also add a possible wiring fault on top of that.

You can carry out a diagnostic test to interrogate the 4ws management fault code by bridging TC and E1 connections at the diagnostic plug (situated next to the top of the passenger front suspension strut in the engine bay). With these two connections shorted you should get a series of flashes from the 4WS light on the dash when you switch on the ignition. Each series of flashes represents a digit which can be looked up.

Tell us news.

I have this < !> lamp lit on my dash

It means a warning has been activated and is still current. When you initially start the engine you should see on the main screen in front of you what the warning relates to. Often for me it's low fuel!!! But at the moment it's also telling me to "Check Brake Lights". You'll need to go to your service place to get them to fix the problem and then the warning will be deactivated. The warning explanation doesn't stay on the whole time you are driving so you need to see it at the moment you turn on your car.

The 4WS light on the dashboard stays on? Mechanics checked underneath and say the chassis is ok. The outer CV boot is split - would this be the cause of the problem?

Yes that is a prob, cos your losing grease. That axle will need replacing. Possibilty of electrical switch/sensor is bad. Check your fuses!
Good luck.

The handbrake and brake warning light are lit together.

take the vehicle to autozone to have them run a free check engine diagnostic test to see what the codes are and they will tell you what the codes mean. could be an abs wheel bearing wire.

Fuel and Temp Gauge go on and off intermitently

faulty wiring for the lights, and blinkers....

broken gears for the fuel and temp gauge...

just get rid of the damn car, get a Civic of the same year.

I was given a 323 once, unsiezed the rear brakes (the idiot left the thing parked with the e-brake on all winter), then sold it for beer money.
