I own one of these trucks that I bought new in '04. The only issues I have had up to this point is the factory recalls which were handled promptly and professionally. Two were for wireing harness issues in the engine compartment and one for a possible bad gear in the Automatic transmission. I personally have had no problems before or after the recall issues were resolved. My truck was manufactured in June of '04 and I did hear from my local dealership and others that the trucks manufactured in late '03 and early '04 did have some problems. I really like my truck! I hope this helps, John

Yes, they do like to prematurely blow head gaskets. They have problems with the fuel pumps. They also have issues with prematurely wearing out hub assemblies.

Ok i took intake off cleaned it /it fixed everything with the stalling/now trying to set the needles on instrament .i heard to 12:00 position then on o didnt work now im using gps for speedometer/help

A GPS is very reliable, but if you want the speedometer to work, you might just buy a new one on line. You will need to look up your year, make and model of your car/truck to match up the system and size.

You can get this info from Autozone or their Repair guide or library with Chilton Repair books. I do know, it will be difficult as my Crown Vic has the same thing in it and can only tell you where to find info

ford has had problems with the 6.0 litre engine .if you go to alldata .com look up recalls for your ford and you might find that a lot of the emission problems are on a extended to cover even your year of truck now.

04 6. sometimes i have no throttle response accompanied with popping back through air intake and lots of black smoke out of the exhaust

I WOULD SAY TAKE IT AND HAVE IT HOOKED TO A DIOGNOSTIC SCANNER TO PIPOINT WHAT IT IS FOR SURE, IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ESPECIALLY, BUT IT IS HARD TO GIVE AN ANSWER WITHOUT KNOWING IF IT IS A GAS OR DIESEL,I WASN'T SURE IF THE 04 6. AT THE TOP WAS MEANING IT WAS A 4.6 LITRE GAS ENGINE,OR IF IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE.

Im looking at a 1994 f350 dually with the 460..its a five sppeed..i need it to pull my cow trailer..can i get 12 mpg pulling?? also, what do you think about this motor and set up in general...any help or...

Price is not bad, the motor set up is a great motor. I have never heard of any major problems with it. You will not get 12 mpg unless you are pulling empty on a level surface or a downgrade. A more realistic number will be 8-10 mpg with a loaded trailer at normal speeds. If you travel around 55 on highways you may be able to average 12 depending on conditions. You may also look to make sure it has a transmission cooler and weather or not it has turbo. All of these things will effect your mileage.

2005 F350 radio swap.

now don't hold me to this but I have heard of this before. the problem was that the computer of the truck isn't seeing a radio that it reconizes so it isn't allowin the radio to play. I have done car sterio installations to were i had to wire in the old stock radio with the new one to allow the new radio to work. this is an anti-theft feature I believe. I hope this helps you and doesnt confuse you
