Question about 1995 Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

Smoke out of the ignition

Recently I started up my Jeep Cherokee (208,000k) 2WD, V6 and as soon as it started up smoke began to come out of the key cylinder. It super heat my key so much that I bunt my hand trying to shut off the vehicle. Within seconds the vehicle lost all power and would not start back up again. The vehicle has no power except to the exterior/interior lights and horn. I will not crank at all. I replaced the ignition switch and this did not resolve the problem. I could not see any melting on any wiring but I assume there is some damage somewhere. Any ideas?

Why is my 2001 jeep grand cherokee blowing smoke everytime i am stopped at the red light .

If the smoke is black , the mixture is too rich. If it's white and disappears soon after accelerating, then it's valve stem seals.

1996 jeep Cherokee country 130k miles recently had oil filter changed and broke the oil sensor gauge...had them replace gauge sensor causing the new filter to be reinstalled. Several weeks later after two...

There is either A).an oil leak or B). the smoke is from residue oil spilled on exhaust and such during the repair. Crank the engine and look everywhere for an evident oil leak if one is not found leave it run till it gets hot enough to show where the white smoke is coming from and see then if it is residue or a new leak. 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited v8 4.7 with 155,000 mi. It recvently began burning oil and blowing white smoke.

Check the water to see it there's oil in it ...and...check the oil to see if it has water in it or if it's higher on the dipstick or not.

Sounds like a blown head gasket or cylinder rings.

Heating system outlets

1st, the fuse location is marked, what is the 20 Amp fuse for? 2nd, did the smoke have a nauseating sweet smell to it? If it smells like described it is the heater core leaking, coolant steam looks like smoke.
