A/C & Heater buttons

1996 BMW 318i convertible - Can't get any response from dash board buttons for heating, fan, defroster, etc but the rear defroster fan is running continuously and I can't turn it off with it's button either. Any ideas?

I had exactly the same problem and i solve it 3 days ago. the buttons were not responding. what you need to do is to open the front panel (not so easy job. take out the radio first and then the aircon/clima board. you will need extra care not to lose the small parts) and you will see under the buttons some metal contacts paired with some plastic joints that are not any more in the correct position: your buttons are not returning in the upper position.
The small metal parts under the buttons should push back the plastic joints but yours are not doing the job anymore.
Make sure that all the sides of the small metal "v" shape springs are under the plastic joints. Put everything back and should work.
Before mounting everything back you can test the PCB by connecting the contacts manually. You should see the status of the leds lights changing. If the PCB is working then you will be 100% sure that the reason are the buttons.

I need also help to find the A/C electrical scheme for an bmw 1996 E39 auto climatronic. Thanks.

1996 Montero Heater Blower not working

I assume your heater setting is electric control, if so either your defrost and floor heat switch failed or wire problem. For the air not hot, check the heat control valve on the top of the hose it should be in front of the firewall. I don't know your car is using mechanic valve or electric control valve. Anyway check there first. Good luck.

Why won't my heater shut off? I can dial the fan down to the lowest blower setting, but it won't shut off at the Off button. The temp. is therefore set at 83 degrees. The modes work i.e., floor, defrost,...

If the ventilation system is set on any setting other than off (I'm talking about the vent, heat, defroster, ac, etc) the fan motor will automatically run at low unless yo select a higher setting. To get the fan OFF, turn off the ventilation system by selecting OFF.
