Question about 2005 Honda Odyssey

Problem Code P1457

Code suggests there is a problem with the EVAP emmissions control system - that a leak exists in the control canister system. From what I can find in the owners manual this canister/system capture evaporating fuel fumes while engine is not running, then feeds them when engine runs to be burnt away.

I have had no success in finding a mechanics/repair manual for this van and have not yet found an online source to tell me where this canister is and how to address the problem - whether to replace the canister - if it can be cleaned - the severity of the problem... etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks,

Check and retight your gas cap.sometimes you did not tighten gas cap until a few clicks heard .it also trigers the light.retight the gas cap and with about 50 times of on&off key will clear out the code or you can get the tech to earase it for you.good luck.

P1457 ACURAP1457 ACURA - Evaporative Emissions Control System Leakage EVAP Canister System

0 Comments ' Add YoursPossible causes- Missing Fuel cap
- Incorrect fuel filler cap used
- Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close
- Foreign matter caught in fuel filler caphelp.png Help with thisSymptoms- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible a noticeable fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vaporsP1457 ACURA DescriptionThe evaporative emission (EVAP) control system stores fuel vapor from the fuel tank in the EVAP canister temporarily to prevent it from escaping to the atmosphere and to enable it to be drawn into the engine by intake manifold vacuum and burned. In addition, the onboard refueling vapor recovery system (ORVR) stores fuel vapor generated when refueling in the EVAP canister.

The EVAP control system leak detection method improves the accuracy and frequency of the detection by determining faulty components and vapor leakage for each part. The EVAP control system (from the purge valve to the fuel tank) is divided into two parts. One is the "EVAP Canister Side" (from the EVAP two way valve to the purge valve) and the other is the "Tank Side" (from the EVAP two way valve to the fuel tank). There is 0.04 inch leak detection and 0.02 inch leak detection. If the 0.04 inch leak detection results are OK, the 0.02 inch leak detection runs. The P1457 code is detected when the EVAP system has a very small leak.

1457 code

the P1457 is EVAP system, P1457 is EVAP system leak detected (control canister). It's probably just your gas cap. Make sure it's clicked at least 3 times. and then see if lights out. if cap seal is bad it will give this code also. good-day !

EVAP emmission control system leak detected canister system - ( P1457 ) N.B. As a result, engine check light is on.

p1457-try by putting fuel fill cap on only about 3 turns and see if this helps. if it does not help. check all vacuum lines to and from charcoal canister. good luck, it very hard to tell. but there is a vacuum leak somewhere in system.

Code P1457 (99 acura tl)

Nothing will happen. The code is for the prevention of fuel vapors getting out of you tank and into the air damaging the enviroment. You need a quality repair shop check the gas cap and perform a smoke test on the evap system. Basically it is a pump that fill your tank and lines with smoke to find where it is leaking. Expensive equiptment, but most good shops have it. Code be as little as a hose, $100 with the test, to the charcoal canister replacement. $600
