SOURCE: Trac light and Check engine light came on how to FIX?
Here's the best way I know to fix this problem (as you said:) without paying. Make friends with someone who works at a professional garage. Get them to scan the computer and gather the codes. Or you could marry into the family of someone that works in the industry. You need to see which code was saved in the computer ( and there are MANY possibilities) before you can have any idea what to do next. Try to look for a coupon in the mailers that come to your home or in the local papers. Many shops will offer a special price for scanning your car's PCM (comp.) so they can get you in the door and make you a customer. You should be able to get this done for 40 to 60 bucks depending on where you live. It takes a few minutes, but some shops charge a full Labor Hour for the service. It's a Lexus, not a VW Beetle, so the price of ownership includes maintenance, you dig?
SOURCE: RX300 Engine Stalls when I take foot off the gas pedal.
The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is clogged. This part feeds air to the engine at start-up and idle when the throttle bodies are closed. I removed the throttle body assembly from my 2001 RX300 and separated it from the IAC. After a good cleaning with throttle body cleaner the IAC was good as new. I later decided to replace it during routine maintenance. You can pick up a brand new IAC on eBay (genuine Lexus/Toyota part). The dealer will want upwards of $400.00 for a 45 minute job (all you need are basis hand tools).

ok, i tell you 3 possible causes.
check maf sensor connection , check fuel pressure regulator (max press fuel in rail 40 psi) , check engine compression (min 95 psi ) if less this cause spark plugs wet and not start

The first thing I would do is remove the hose connected to the intake and see if there isa lot of blackish brown buildup on the plate, if there is you need to buy some top engine cleaner and with a tooth brush clean the throttle plate on the back side and also the pipe that it sits in. Over time Gum builds up from back fires that you can't feel and causes the plate to open up and gradually will cause this problem.
Check this first and if you find that it is dirty then let me know and I will tell you how to do a top engine clean to get it running better, I do this in a order that won't cost you as much. If there is build up in the engine it will also cause the engine not to get good fuel mileage. Check this first and let me know so I can help you save money, you can do the top engine clean yourself. As far as sensors go I do the simplest things first before moving on to the sensors.

It could be a idle air valve, a loose, unplugged or missing vacuum hose or a throttle position sensor.
