05 Golf 1.9D TDI engine code; BKC

Hi their' my intercooler pipe on top of the engine seems to collapse when i rev my engine up to 3000 rpm!... its as if my intercooler is blocked. Is their a sensor or valve that could be causeing this? I checked the "intake manafold air control solonoid" and it seems ok, I tried a new "mass air flow sensor" and that made no difference!... Their is 170.000 klm on the car, vw golf 1.9D TDI engine code;BKC Andy.

hi, i have the same problem it would seem. i have in effect a non-turbo car when driving, with plumes of smoke out the back when accelerating. i was just wondering if you'd got the prob fixed, and what was the cause?

Hi,
Always best to get the fault codes read before spending any (other) money, and that might tell you which sensor - or it's connector - is playing up. It seems TDI intercoolers do collect oil and if it gets fairly blocked the "blow" from the turbo will be reduced to "****" at the inlet manifold - thus collapsing your pipe. Have a look at http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=9379

If your turbo has variable geometry it could be that the vanes are stuck, but you didn't complain of lack of boost.Did you mean to?
Cheers, D

Check the seals on the intercooler, for oil to get in the pipes means that the seals are damaged and its loosing compression

Turbo / Intercooler Hose collapses

Most probably your hose is the problem, does the exhaust smoke more than usual ?
If it does then the collapsing hose is reducing the air volume that your engine needs. Your turbo is trying to drag air from the intercooler rad the hose collapses, reduced power.
If you can't get a new one before Christmas try taking off the hose and pushing a hard plastic pipe inside it, if there are bends in the pipe cut the plastic pipe into halves and feed it in. may help. But you really need air into the engine.

The turbo isn't activating on my vw golf tdi. there is no compression going to the valvs

Hi hannah hardi
It may be that the turbocharger blades are seized, in which case you will need to replace the complete unit. Before doing so... Check and see that the pipes from the turbo to the manifold are not cracked and leaking .Also, if car is fitted with an intercooler..check this carefully for cracks. Intercooler failure is a common problem.
Hope this is helpful
