Question about Chrysler Concorde

1 Answer

This is in regards to the 1996 Chrysler Concorde with the CV joint issue you responded too . . . It was installed with the boot . . . I didn't do it, but I watched a friend of mine who replaced the driver's side cv joint before. I'm wondering if maybe it wasn't inserted properly . . . like, I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the splines. When I accelerate it doesn't move, and he said the rod that goes inside the transmission flops around, but I'm wondering if it just wasn't in correctly because when he FIRST put it in, the car drove fine . . . it's just when we stopped it refused to move again

I didn't get in on the first part of this question, but it sounds like he left the retainer ring off the axle. Or he didn't seat the axle properly and the retainer ring did not engage. The only way to tell is dis-assembly, which is going to have to be done anyway. Hopefully, the splines dindn't retain too much damage.

That's not enough information.

Suspects include:
1.) Cradle bushings
2.) Engine and/or Transmission Mount(s)

Help car making some noise not engine.

Good chance it's CV joint . You'll have to get it checked, or at least jack side your hearing it on, up remove wheel,(make sure you use safety stands & emergency brake) and push & pull on shaft right at or near boot & see if there is slop/play there. If yes, time for new. Is this a job your experienced enough to do yourself or will it be going to a shop?
