Several weeks ago I had a hose burst in the cooling system -- towards the rear of the engine of my 1997 Safari van. Afterwards I started hearing like the sound of trickling water coming from the heater...

It sounds like you still have a leak somewhere, maybe it's a hose clamp that wasn't tightened or another leak. You should check the coolant level in the radiator, not the overflow bottle. If the system has a leak it won't create a vacunm to draw in the coolant from the overflow, the radiator could be very low. The sound you were hearing was air bubbles in the heater corem maybe the coolant wasn't topped off.. If the core was leaking there would be coolant dripping on the passenger's side floor.

My service engine light on advance auto parts scanded and came up with code p0440 but gave me no idieas of what promelem may be i disconected battery to clear code but light stayed on can u give me things...

Hello farrah147: My name is Roger and I will help you. You did not say what engine was in your truck or if it was a 4x4 pick up. The code would be for a large leak in the EVAP system This is not the a/c system but the fuel system. The computer Has to be able to draw a vacunm on the fuel system in order to check for leaks. If a vacunm is not obtained then the light will come on. Any thing could cause the problem. A bad gas cap or a gas cap left off will cause a problem. The best way to track the problem is with a scanner. This will priorities the problems and provide a place to start. You could start by following the EVAP line from the motor to the fuel canister. Any breaks need to be fixed. There are switches and solonoids that could also be a problem. But in order to find them you will need a scanner. You mechanic should be able to do this. Most shops should have the equipment. I wish that I could tell you more but with out a computer connected to the truck it is a stab in the dark. If you need further assistance please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
