Question about Mazda MAZDA6

Open Question

I had this code alarm ca 4051 installed at a dealer where I bought my new mazda. After only a few months one of the remote transmitters stopped working. The light still flashes when you push the button, butr does not start the car. The other TX works fine.I thought the transmitter may have lost its program but I can't find any instructions online or otherwise on programming the remote to the unit itself. I know the one in my truck (different brand) needs reprogrammed whenever the battery is replaced. I don't really want to drive the 70 miles to the dealer for something that's probably simple.

Welcome to Fixya

Try this procedure:

Access alarm system control module. It is located on the at the facia panel in the center. Once you have found this module, ensure that the memory switch is in the OFF position. Then turn the ignition on. Wait 5 seconds and set the memory switch to SET position and then press the remote transmitter lock button to send the code to the alarm system control module. If you would like to program a second remote transmitter then you will need to press second remote transmitter lock button. Next set the memory switch to off, then turn the ignition off. You can confirm your programming by locking and unlocking the vehicle with both of the remotes.

Imobiliser problem

If im not mistaken, your car should have an alarm reset/override.Below the steering column,on the dash should be a slot where you put your remote transmitter to deactivate the alarm. If that works, you then need to have your remote checked and coded by a vw dealer.Good luck.

Can you give me the instructions for programming the remote for a 1999 Jaguar XJ8. Thanks! Alan Broyles

  1. Hold headlight flasher back.
  2. Turn ignition key to position 1.
  3. Flash headlights 4 times. Alarm will enter programming mode. This will be confirmed by "beeps" from the alarm and flashing led on gearshift. Program each transmitter (up to 5) by pressing the lock or unlock button on the each transmitter once. The alarm will "honk" when you press the transmitter button. The alarm must honk 5 times to complete the programming. Therefore, if you are only programming one transmitter you should operate the transmitter 5 times. If you are programming two transmitters you will operate one transmitter twice, and three times on the other. For five transmitters you will operate each transmitter once.

Possibly battery-related problem with '02 Mazda Protege

It sounds like the car's security system is going off. Is there a key fob to lock/unlock doors and turn on alarm? If there is, connect battery, and immediately press alarm/unlock button to turn alarm off.
I have a truck with an aftermarket alarm system installed by the previous owner, my battery died, and when I hooked up a new one the alarm went off, and it took a while before I hit the key fob button, but it stopped it. Let me know if this works for u.
