Question about 1992 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

Cars security light came on and stayed on after witch the ignition switch wouldn't turn the starter. after testing and replacing the starter the car started once then would not even click, the accesorys, interior lights, gages, radio or door interior lights would not work interior door lights work manually only. the passenger side fuse box would continuously click on the sqaure relay panel with or without the key switch engaged. the car won't even turn over or click. however upon removing the trunk relay from the fuse panel on the passenger side fuse box the continuous clicking stopped but rest of the problems remain.

Usually the security light means it can't read the chip in the key.. the little black chip at the base of the key.
Try using a spare key

Does the security light come on? Do you have a chip your key? You have a problem with your VATs security system. If your car stops running while driving or wont start, you're gunna be spendin some money to have this system fixed. Do it for cheaper. this guy has the answer..... Trust me, i just did it on my buick regal. took about 2 hours, saved over 500 bucks. This not starting issue has been a problem for a year for me. Temperary fix, turn your key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, wait ten minutes. turn it back then forward again to start.

Fully charged battery . Fully charged Battery ,NO power to the starter , head lights , or power of any kind

it looks like you have a fusible link burn or open circuit
with a test light find out witch circuit is missing.
the starter have direct current from battery and ignition current to starter solenoid. maybe the problem is ignition switch or wires
hope it helps

I start the car and the starter stay ingage I turn the ign switch off then try to start and the same thing happened few times until it start normal do you think its the starter / starter realy or ign

I would suspect that the solenoid contacts need replacing as they may be burning together. Pull the starter and have an accredited auto electrician bench test it.

2001 jaguar s-type won't crank battery new and charged. Turn the ignition car won't make a sound

many things will cause no start problems could have faulty ignition switch.use test light see if power going to starter if not check ignition fuse to starter.if power going to starter, more likely starter solenoid or starter faulty.if ignition fuse okay and starter and solenoid okay still no start problem could be in the ignition switch or inhibitor switch faulty.code scan for faulty theft security system which will also cause no start conditions.

I think my starter motor has gone? my car wont start unless i pus it and kick start it in gear. Is it the starter motor gone or battery playing up??

both may be the reason for not starting.

11.please check the terminals from the battery, wires and all in good order.then check the volt comin to the starter motor if the volts are correct then the problem is with the started motor. please service or replace with the new motor.

2.if no supply is comin to the motor terminla then ther is a problem with the wires.the wire is damaged so no power goes to the motor.

3.if the voltmeter/multimeter reads less reading then the problem is with the battery.the charge is not sufficient enough to start the motor. please recharge or replace the battery if required.

if my information was usefull please vote

Starter want disengage when truck is cranked up

That would indicate either the ignitiion switch is sticking, or the solenoid is sticking, or your starter is just worn out.

You can test the ignition switch & the solenoid with just a 12 Volt test light at the starter with the help of an assistant.

Remove the solenoid "start" wire & use the test light to connect to it & watch while the ignition switch is operated from start to on for several test. Have the person turning the key to say when they are doing the on & start so that you will be able to determine if it is stickiing.

To test the solenoid, you'll need to have the wire connected again & put the test light probe on the lower Starter terminal, the one that connects directly to the starter, and have the car started. the light should only light as long as the ignition switch is in the "START" position & go off immediately upon releasing the ignition switch. If the light stays lit for even a moment after releasing the ign. switch, the solenoid or the solenoid & starter will need to be replaced.

The solenoid & starter aren't always replaced at the same time but you generally would due to the same amount of use and potential for future breakdowns due to only replacing the one part. You also get a better rebuilt product as a rule when you buy it with the lifetime warranty which has both parts included. The starter would be at fault if the other 2 test failed & that could be as a result of normal use, or just a lack of lubricant on the bendix shaft. You can have it tested as well as the solenoid tested, at your local auto parts store.

good luck.

Turn key and nothing just silence.

It could be either one of those. If your ignition key has the little chip(black plastic with metal in the middle) on it between the teeth and handle it could be the VAT security module or the key itself. Does this happen sporadically or is this the first time that has happened?

Everything works in the car but car doesnt start

The security light is staying on because 1 of 2 things, both of which relate to the vehicles VATS (vehicle ani-theft system). You know that little black bump in your key? Well thats part of the VATS system. There is a connection in the ignition that reads the resistance of the pellet. If its not the right one, the security light disables the ignition and starter for 3-5 mins. Now either the wiring is loose on the inside of the ignition switch, or the metal contacts of the key is dirty. Try cleaning the key off with some rubbing alcohol and try again. Or better yet, if you have a spare key that gets used less often, try that one. If that dosent work, its time for a new ignition
