I had this problem with my car and the problem was the fuel pick up would not get fuel to it when all the gas rushed to the back of the tank and air would enter the fuel pump. this can also be caused by bad gas or contaminated gas in the tank. to eliminate some things -- fill the fuel tank all the way FULL and then try to drive up the hill and see if it cuts out then. also add some gas additive into the tank ( ones designed to get rid of water in fuel ). please let me know if this does or does not solve your problem,, there are a couple other things that might be going on here and I will do my best to help trouble shoot the problem.

Hi I have a 1974 hillman avenger 1600. It misses when cruising at around 100km/h, particuarly giong uphill. I think its because the valve on no1 cylinder tightens up, as I have altered the clearance in...

Misfire when going up hill or under load is more likely to be a plug or plug lead. Valve clearances only change slightly when hot but not under load so if it only misfires going up hill its likely to be electrical or fuel starvation, check the fuel filter also

The car keeps stalling out while in idle. In order to keep the car ruining I have to accelerate the car. I think its ignition issue. Any help would be helpful.

clean your IAC sensor, the pintle area builds up carbon deposits...and if this is dirty it means you'll need to clean out the inside of your throttle body.. plates and everything.also check all your vacuum lines for cracks and holes especially the one giong to you MAP sensor.
if you think its an ignition problem it really wouldnt hurt to replace your plugs.
can you rate this
