Question about 1994 Mercury Sable

1 Answer

I have a 94 mercury sabel with 70,000 miles on it. The problem is when going down the road it seems to have a vibration at slow speeds. None at high speed. When I jacked up the front end you can move the front tire on the passenger side back and forth a couple of inches of free play. Looks like it is in the rack and pinion steering drivers side is not as bad but also has some play. CV joints seem fine, kinds scary should not have that much play. Zero play up and down, just side to side

2002 mercury cougar overheats at idle and when drove faster ik head gasket isnt blown, thermostat , water pump, relay, its been flushed out till clean idk whats wrong at all.

I suspect that if you do not have electric fan/s then the fan clutch or viscous fan hub has failed
indications are over heating at idle , stop lights , slow traffic, high rpms at slow speed but cools down as soon as there is enough road speed to put air through the radiator.

I just installed a set of the new Michelin Defender tires on my 2007 Impala LT 3.5. I get a vibration that seems ot be coming from the rear tires that I feel thru the driver seat ( if you put you hand

I had the same problem with my new Defenders. Turns out I had a bad batch of tires. Not only had vibration, it caused the car to pull. I had the tires tested for roundness, and three were out of round. Additionally, two of the tires were causing what is known as radial bias pull, which made the car seem like it was out of alignment. Three alignments, four rebalances and rotations later, and with still a lot of of resistance, they replaced all four tires as defective, and the problems ALL went away. You need new tires.

I own a 2006 Mercury Mariner Hybrid with CVT. What is the factory maintenance schedule for the transmission? Dealer is telling me it needs service at 70,000 miles and when purchased I was told it would be...

All Transmissions get the fluid changed at 30,000 miles

I really am not familliar with Hybrids, but if the Dealer
told you 70,000 miles, you can be rest assured that, that
is at the high end, mileage wise,as they usually tell you
that it never gets changed or changed at 100,000 miles

Both of which most trans fail long before ,along with
steering racks ,because of no fluid changes.

I'm guessing it takes special fluid

There are plenty of web sites to answer all
those questions any way you want.

I have a 99 Mercury Marquis with 104,000 miles. About 15-20,000 miles ago I had the trasnmission fluid changed to see if it would fix some very rough shifting at highway speeds, none in lower gears or low...

Did you use the recommended fluid when the transmission was serviced?I would be more inclined to believe the fluid needs a synthetic additive to loosen up the valves in the valve body.Use lubegaurd as an additive to treat the problem you are having. This will allow the valves to move freely.

The speedometer needle on my '94 Villager vibrates

Sounds like the cable is dry and needs lubricating, sometimes you can take off the gearbox end and pour in some oil.
