Question about 2007 Jeep Compass Limited

My 2007 Compass acts like it's going to stall out while sitting at a stop after it sits in the rain. It's been to the dealership several times and of course they have no idea what's wrong with it. Any ideas??

As I told another gent earlier, somewhere you have moisture getting into an electrical contact that's causing "stutter" when wet. Off road folks use hi heat clear engine paint (available at most parts stores) and they coat their engines and all electrics with it. It literally waterproofs everything and some swear by it especially when mudding and swamp runs.

My 2007 compass has been feeling like it is about to stall. While sitting in stop and go traffic is chokes on the initial acceleration if you don't slam the gas. What is causing this?

This is an air problem, most likely your air mass meter, or airflow meter. basically this controls the level of air to mix with the fuel its a very deliacte sensor and if its never been done on your 2007 car then this would sound like the problem to me. As you say it chokes under power I would bet on it. the other thing still air related you may have a split in an air pipe thus the air flow meter will take on far to much air and cause the car to be jerky on take off. have a good look in the engine bay at the air pipes. you dont always have to replace the air mass sensor or air flow meter, so if your comfortable with removing it give it a good clean up with some carb spray and a dry cloth.

Your air box will have a wire going to it, sometimes they are screwed in sometimes just a push plug the sensor is on the inside of the air box.

One more thing in the US you guys have different names for these parts so let me know if your stuck and I will get back to you.

Good luck

1993 Ford Escort 1.9L Auto Randomly Stalls

I don't have the solution, but I have the same exact problem on my 1991 Escort 1.9L with auto with 120K miles. I replaced the IAC with no difference. In fact I unplugged it, and still had the random stalling. Also disconnected the EGR vacuum line...still stalled randomly. After it stalls it always starts right back up again. Sometimes it will act as if it's going to stall, but comes back to normal idle. Park or Drive makes no difference. Acceleration and all normal driving is fine. The next thing I was going to try is hooking up a timing light and watch to see if the timing light stops flashing as it's stalling, and/or hooking up a fuel pressure gauge somehow, to the fuel rail, to see if the pressure drops when stalling....to figure out if its ignition or fuel related.

My Excursion stopped several times on freeway

If your Excursion has the 7.3L Diesel, what I first suspect is the Ford recalled item Cam Position Sensor (CMP sensor). If your nearby Ford dealership has not replaced it for free for you, then make an appointment and take the car in to have the sensor replaced. If this does not solve your stalling problem, come back to FixYa and I will assist you further.

Every time it rains, and my truck sits in the rain for an extended period of time, when I go to drive somewhere, a few minutes down the road the truck starts to stutter and shake, or **** either when I'm...

I had a 93 Nissan that had a similar intermittent problem running when wet, humid or after sitting. Usually it would start fine and run well most of the time, but stutter, shake or die. It sometimes had low power and got terrible highway mileage even though it was a 4 cyl. 5 spd. When it was dry and not humid, it ran like it was new. I thought it was the ignition wires and changed them with no results. 2 Nissan dealers said everything was fine--it never acted up when they had it. I found a web site that had Nissan technical service bulletins and found one that described the problem--there's a connector in the wiring that needs replacing. It's wrapped in black tape and is a crimp connection. Dealers told me that couldn't be the problem (it was still under warranty), so I took the truck and bulletin to a non-Nissan mechanic. Within an hour he found the connection, replaced it, and the truck ran perfect after that. Sorry but I don't have the technical service bulletin anymore. I may have found it under a different year . .Good luck.
