Hi, the key is getting stuck because the tumblers or worn out or a lack of greese, the best way to fix problem is to replace lock cylinder .If you get an after market one it will come with new keys and will need to be program to do this you will need to hook a battery charger up to battery were the battery wont go dead or weak in this process. Then you can start the learn process . make sure you roll a window down , put new key in switch put in run not start and leave switch on for 30 to 45 mins. this will reprogram new for you. then shut your door go have lunch or something while you wait . Thanks if i can help you any further feel free to re post.

How do I remove key stuck in ignition switch?

Is the shift button still depressed? Try popping it out with a thin piece of metal and the key should come out. Also try using some penitrating oil on the slot / key to get it out like liquid wrench not wd40. Then, use some graphite grease on the key and slot to prevent this in the future and clean the shifter button

2003 Toyota Avalon transponder key stuck between ACC and LOCK and can't be removed

Alas, the old worn keys indicate a lot of grit has been pushed into the intricate key tumbler pins. They were/are most likely badly worn and the mechanism now jammed with particles worn from the tumbler pins etc. I strongly suggest you contact a local LOCKSMITH who is familiar with that particular system for advice and assistance. The lock tumbler will have to be removed and replaced. THAT may not be possible unless the key can be turned to the correct position for that extraction. This COULD turn into a major expense (big damn deal) involving drilling and cutting things apart (properly) and removing the steering column to fix.

2000 buick century ignition stuck on

Hi David I'm glad to help!

David I've found from time to time an Ignition switch will stick because the tumblers freeze. If you in fact have a tumbler and key set-up here a way that usually works but not always. Remove the key an spray lubricant into the key hole, then replace the key and using a small hammer tap on the end of the key while turning it off. Once you get it to move you'll need to replace the tumbler and housing assembly. NOTE: If you have a WIN Module set-up then remove the negative battery cable for 20 seconds then reconnect it and see if it works properly. This is only if you have the Module and key set-up, this has nothing to do with the key and tumbler. Hope this helps and have an awesome day David.

Security light comes on and car will not run. However when security light goes out car runs well. What is the problem?

you car is equipped with a pass key system, this year is most likely a pass key 2, but there is a small chance it is a pass key one, the pass key one has a pellet in the key ( a little black square in the shank of the key ) the pass key 2 has a resistor in in the ignition tumbler assembly ( that is the the key lock but it is called a key and tumbler assembly ) what is happening is the security system is not recognizing your key all the time in either case you will most likely have to replace the key and tumbler assembly, in order to do this you will need to have the system tested to know what the residence value is so you can get the proper key and tumbler set.

Key gets stuck from removal Problem with the Pontiac Grand Prix 2005 Grand Prix Key gets stuck from removal of tumbler Liquid wrench works for a while .Iv tried resetting security settings to no avail .Is...

Yes, this is a common problem. No, there is no recall. Recalls are only for safety issues that can cause bodily harm.

This is caused by wear in both the key and the tumbler. Usually, it is best to have a new key cut at the dealer using the VIN to get the proper key code. Sometimes this is all you have to do. (I would try this first) Most of the time however, it also requires replacement of the lock cylinder as well. GM (AC Delco) lock cylinder kits come with an assortment of tumblers so the lock cylinder can be coded to fit your new key.

Ignition key is seized and therefore cannot start car, and car is therefore also stuck in park gear. What needs to be done?

First if the steering wheel is locked try to turn the steering wheel away from the locked position and and jiggle the key at the same time. If you have another set of keys try them too. I did have one of these tumblers go bad before if the other two things don't work you will probably have to replace the tumbler which is kinda hard to do if you can't turn the key on because to get the tumbler out you have to have the key on and push a button underneath as part of a security so its not easy to steal. You can get it out with a hammer and punch where the button is to force it out but be carefull not to break it. If you dont have a new tumbler right away you can use a large screwdriver to start it temperoly after you get the old tumbler out.

How do i reset the security system for a 99 volkswagon jetta

disconnect the battery for a few minutes. If this doesnt help you will need to get the code to see if you havea key/tumbler issue or the computer issue. Or try another key if available.

2001 Land Rover Disc. II Security System Lock Down.

Normally by turning key in door lock this resets alarm also try passenger as well-owners manual should also give clues-try lubricating your lock with a can of triflow to free up tumblers also you may have poorly cut key or tumbler issues-if you can't find a can of triflow-wd-40 in a pinch.
