Sum vehicles have a auto option when it comes to the lights. If it does there is a sensor that detects how much sun light there is. This sensor is located usuallt in the dash on either side. it looks a bit like a small camera looking at the winscreen. check to make sure that there is nothing covering this sensor.

Headlights blink on and off

You have a bad connection or a bad earth on the lights themselves. This can cause higher resistance in the switch. It may also be that the switch itself is faulty, and I would change that first and then work towards the headlights themselves.

My headlights are both out. I was having trouble with them before they went out. The high beams sometimes would turn themselves on and the headlights would turn themselves on when the car was off. I...

Although it is feasible that the aftermarket lights burnt the sockets, that would not cause the lights to turn on by themselves - a faulty switch would cause that. Inspect the wires that plug into the headlights - if they are not melted or burnt then they don't need replacing. I think you should go elsewhere for a second opinion - just to be sure you got an honest one the first time. Some shops replace everything as a general rule - not because it all needs replacement, but because they make more money on the job. I don't work for a shop like that and feel that is the wrong attitude to have - money is too tight for that!
Hope this helps!!

When I turn the foglights on, both headlights light up! But when I just turn the headlights on by themselves, the left one is out

You will have to change that left bulb as it is a double filament bulb. You will be shocked at the price. This happened to me with a 02 rx 300 last month. The dealer wanted $475 for a new bulb. Yes that is the correct price. I didn't take it. I went to NAPA and purchased an after marked bulb. BUT it was still $99. J.
